Motor mounts break, I'm thinkin hockey pucks

00 800 RMK and the front motor mounts seem to be weak. I'm gonna build a torque rod for the front but in the meantime...the right front one totally broke the fawk off...stud snapped and lodged in there so I had to drill it out to 1/2"...the left one is fine but has broken in the past. I'm gonna go measure hockey pucks and check for height. I'm thinking of drilling a hole in the middle and using bigger hardware with big flat washers and sandwhich it all together. I don't care about vibration, i just want the motor to stay in one spot lol. Input? Ideas? I know it sounds like a ghetto idea but I think it'll work.

If you are breaking motor mounts the crank isn't long for this life.

You can buy 3 different hardness motor mounts from the aftermarket. I tried the hardest one and the vibration was unbelievable... feet and hands went numb partway in to the ride.

I've found the stock mounts to be sufficient if the clutch is balanced and the crank isn't out of spec.

Reaaalllllyyyyyyy...that's nice. I didnt even think of that. Well I guess if that's the case I'll run till it blows. I dont have the cash to do a crank right now.

I agree with 2greentractors.

Engine alignment is key and the torque arm from SLP is a must.

I am the poster child for a long lasting engine. I went 7000 miles on mine and never lost the crank and was still getting 74 hp at the track. Engine alignment, clutch alignment, balance primary (I got lucky here though), torque arm, good mounts, engine plate, and Amsoil Racing 2000. And I am no trail rider either.

I am up to probably 4500+ miles on a crank update, renicked cylinders and new pistons. I have not dyno'd it for sometime though.

You just have to do what is best for your sled and it will take care of you in the mountains. TLC goes a long way and gives back 2 to 3 fold.
