Two environmental groups have asked South Dakota regulators to reject construction of a second coal-fired power plant at Big Stone City. The Sierra Club and Clean Water Action say the plant will pollute the air. They say the power plant will not adequately control emissions that lead to acid rain, smog and asthma-causing pollutants.

The opponents also say the state Board of Minerals and Environment permit will not require any control of carbon dioxide, which has been linked to global warming. South Dakota officials have already approved some major permits for the $1.5 billion plant.

What a surprise, the Sierra Club opposing a power plant.

What a horrible organization!

I was watching CNN a couple months back and about passed out.
They had one of the talking heads for the Sierra Club on. The guy openly stated one of the biggest mistakes they made was stopping nuclear power. The guy admitted they were wrong and nuclear power was and is the way to go. Too bad they demonised it so bad everyone is still are afraid to try and build a new nuclear plant.

While I also think Nuclear power is the way to go, who REALLY wants a Nuclear Power Plant in their Neighborhoo/City/State? Can I see by show of hands? LOL

It has gotten a lot safer, although today we have the problem of protecting them as well as finding proper ways to get rid of the waste.
