More cfi 800 clutching stuff

Has anyone running a stock pipe/aftermarket can (mine is MBRP) been able to get this sucker to run at 8200 rpm? I have my 155 geared to a 163, Team 150-340 primary spring, and the 58-42-.36 / 62-42-.46 helix stock spring and 3 delrins. Just had it out this past weekend with 62 weights, and the helix at the 58 track, running at 8050rpm at around 5800 ft. Just took it out for a burn here at home (2800 ft) and put 66 gram weights in it and the 62 track helix in and it will only pull 8050! I know the guys running the SLP single are getting them to rev more with certain setups, but mine seems to be very unresponsive to the things I have been playing with. It does have the new update and seems to run really good, mind you it always ran good last year too, (I saw the pistons and cylinder from 09 and they practically looked new after 1600 miles). Any ideas? maybe too much helix, I am only 170lbs, thought that even a stock pipe would swing this helix but have never messed around with the team clutches much. Thanks.

Welcome to my world

I also have a 155 dragon (with the new update) and can't get anything much over 8000 rpms. Last year (pre-update) I had a stock pipe with a precision performance can and could pull about 8350. It ran great. So this year I decided to get an SLP single set-up with the air kit and it is an absolute dog. There is tons of useful clutching info on the increasing your IQ thread at the top of the IQ section. AKSNOWRIDER seems to have his stuff pretty dialed. He suggested I have the dealer check my TPS settings with a multimeter and see what they find. Maybe yours could be the same. I read through all 150 plus posts in the clutching thread and my brain almost melted. Now I have to research the specifics on my TPS and probably melt it again. Good luck. I am dreaming of a day when I can just pull the rope and ride with similar performance from one day to the next.

I'm thinking you guys need to give the break-in some time on that sled. The reason I say that is I'm getting 8250 max RPM's on my 09 D8 with update. I'm running a fuel controller though so I'm probably seeing a less rich fuel mixture. Sounds like the new Polaris map is very rich so they don't have to deal with anymore burn downs.

I have been seeing 8250 since the second ride on my 2010 d8 163... Then I added the SLP singe pipe set, intake kit, and the recommended MTX weights with the blue/pink spring in the primary and still seeing 8250 max, and now have 108 miles in it so far. This is at 6000 ft. But, I think I would like to see around 8350?

800 Dragon more like the 700s

I too have been having trouble getting the RPMs out of my 09 800 dragon. It ran at 8300 to 8400rpm when it was new. Even went to 64 gram weights and ran up at 8200 plus at 6000 ft or under. Than NEVER ran good again after the 1st motor burnt down. Had the 1st new reflash and its been down hill ever since, just going from motor to reflash over and over agian.
The dealer has changed almost all the parts, Plus just got a new motor(crank, jugs pistons) in it AGAIN! I think this is number 4 counting the recall. Had almost 200 miles on the new update and the dealer found a scuffed piston on the mag side. Took it out this weekend and still runs the same. 8050rpms on hard pack and about 7800 rpms on the hills in fresh snow. I have a couple 08 Dragon 700s and my son and I drag raced in a meadow and traded sleds, both were 163s, 800 and 700. The 700 beat the 800 5 out of 6 times! The 700 will equally perform with the 800. Its a sad day for Polaris AGAIN! I love the chassis but the motor SUCKS!
