Moosedog out! Stick a fork in me!

Sunday on one of thise epic snow days I found a big crevice I couldn't avoid. The landing was crooked and it broke my hip. I'm in the hospital right now. I'll be on crutches for 10 to 12 weeks! Thinking about yard sale prices for all my crap!

10 to 12 weeks....lots of time for rehab,the gym,fall will come and the sled will need to be polished and dialed in....You have the world by the .....!!!!!Get after it man life is over too soon,finish off sliding into the grave wore out doing what you love!!!!No point ending up there wishing you did it all!!!:beer;:beer;:D:light:JMHO!!!:face-icon-small-con

Same here two weeks ago, no bricken hip though. Sled is totaled, buying it back for a spare and snow checking a 2010.

Call your dealer and buy a new sled, then you'll have much to look forward to and to work for in terms of rehab.

Best of luck with your recovery!!

avy conditions are bad anyway! hope you have a speedy recovery. I heard beer and sunshine are the best cure!:beer; oh, and a hot, young nurse to give the "sponge bath" will raise your spirits.:)

Ouch that just sucks! Hang in there and like the rest have already said...the good riding is done anyways. Back next season even stronger!

CHAD - hope the recovery goes smooth buddy, call me if you need anything....or someone to ride your sleds:cool::beer;

Keep positive,there will be ups and downs,but in the end I hope it will work out well for you.Don't push too hard too soon.Listen to your doctors than P/T people.I speak from experience.
Get well,Pete

don't give up!!!

I have been in the same boat , broke my leg first trip to idaho 12-31-08, just now been able to start walking/ full weight bearing. I missed all season and have a 2009 sled sitting there , but it will be new for next season also!!!!! Be positive, do all the p/t and stretching and heal fast.

Thanks for the support guys. The Doc said there was a 30% chance of a full recovery , a 30% chance it wouldn't work at all and I would need full replacement and the other 40% chance somewhere in the middle. I seen an x-ray of the plate they put in and it was ugly like something off 383lb's sled:)

Better to have dropped a bad cornice than to not have dropped one at all:D Here is to a speedy recovery and an even better next winter:beer;:beer; Sorry to hear about the bad breaks:beer;

That sucks, I've been there. Like others have said follow Dr. orders & do ALL exercises & stretches & stay off it for as long as they say, in a couple months it will be feeling good & you will think you don't need the cutches anymore, keep using them! I was young & stupid & didn't listen to them. Not sure if thats why (as I had a 30% chance of it not working also) but I now have a steel hip. The good news is they have better options than a full replacement now. I had a Birmingham hip resurface done about 5 years ago and it's almost as good as new. So long story short DO WHAT THE DR. TELLS YOU, wish I would have.

Road trip

Moose-you up for a road trip--the wife and i are going to Tombstone, Az the 26th of april and coming back by the grand canyon , monument Valley and arches NP---:D:beer;

Sorry to hear that. You'll regret selling all your toys once you recover. I dislocated my shoulder last year and lost my sled in a chute and messed up my hip on the way down. I couldn't hardly walk for a week. It put an end to my season in May.

I had the same attitude about things so I couldn't hardly look at the damn things all summer. I'm glad I kept everything around though. It would be a pretty boring life if we didn't all do the stupid $hit that we do, wouldn't it?!

Keep your head up buddy!
