Report of 7 people caught in an avalanche at Moose Pass. May have gotten one person out. AST and mountain rescue are on there way down. This just happened a short time ago. I don't know if they are skiers or sledders.

Troopers search for possible avalanche victims

Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008

Alaska State Troopers, emergency medical personnel and search and rescue dogs are searching near mile 67 of the Seward Highway after reports that an avalanche buried an unknown amount of people. One person was pulled from the snow but his or her condition is not known. Department of Transportation workers saw the avalanche occur and reported it to troopers. More details will be provided as they become available on the 5 O'clock Report.

Thats to bad, i was supposed to ride turnagain today, hopefully there alright. Just got info from Dan Phillips; says it was 7 skiers on the skier/snowboarder side of turny. 5 have been accounted for, 2 were still missing. but the rescue crew was on the snowmachine side, so there was a rescue crew at the scene pretty quickly it sounds like. Dunno how many were killed. Hopefully none, but its still unknown, it'll be on the news at 5. By the way it sounded 5 did survive, but not 100% info since we were not there.

yeah i saw alot of people at turney today and no tracks going up. Turns out they closed it off up top. I saw some people go over but they got tickets in the parking lot. Snow is deep off to the right side.

A friend who was involved in the rescue told me only 2 boarders were buried. One was partially buried and dug himself out, the other was not out for 45 minutes but they did revive him. Good news but people need to quit ignoring the warnings. They're lucky they aren't 6 ft. under right now. I was told it happened in Sunburst.

well andy. I saw a State Trooper Heli Flying Over head and followed this guy into the Lot Must have got on the Radio cause as soon as he got in the troopers were waiting. I was there when the Ppl went over. Me and Hiflyer and chad were at the hill. we put up some marks nothing crazy. but that prob got people thinking that it was open. id like to go up on tuesday or wensday. but im not into that solo crap. good way to get burried even if you have the gear for it.

Its open up top, we had a few guys that didnt want to go up and over so we chilled down in the fields and had a blast. Either way, sad to hear of more people getting involved in another avalanche, thank god the helicopter and other search and rescue were already in the area.

Is the trail going up pretty packed down now?

andy ur 151 should make it no prob. it was a good Hookup and go. its not a bad sled. You should stick a 16 under that thing. ud have float of like a 163 inch track. 800 should pull it easy.

I've been up and over many, many times. yes, i have taken my sled up and over many times also. I was asking if the trail is packed down cause, with the the high traffic going up and down, and with the rain, you would think it would have set up. thats why i was asking. not if i could make it.
