I had the opportunity to ride with Bud, Skip and Andrew this past weekend in Montana. Your guides and sponsors at Hawkfest.
My reccomendation is go if you can you will have a blast. You will not meet nicer people and the riding is unbeliveable.
From a mecanical standpoint. It seems to me that Bud and Skip are a leap or two ahead on tuning these machines.
From what I have seem my eyes are open to the potential here. It's huge.

Snow-Hawk potential is not huge, it is HUUUUÛÛHHÜÜÛÛÜÜUHHUUUUUUGE !

There's so much more to do on this than on a sled. I just wish Hawkfest has enough coverage this year to pick the curiosity of that "key person"...

If all the sledders would know & admit the potential of this machine, the snowmobile market would be in serious trouble... or they'd have to make their own version of the Hawk... Now does that sounds like a great idea !?!

Tuning is a very BIG aspect on how they'll perform (yes or no they have a potential) as well especialy in the mountains... The way they come out of the factory is close to horrible. These guys, being in the moutains and understanding clutching from several years of snowmobiling, they sure are a leap ahead of a bunch of us switching from motocross "clutching" to CVT clutching !!! I'll do some testing on mine and I should be preeeeeeeeeetty close to perfection under our condition here in BC at 3-7K... But again there, I'll be f'hawked because of different elevation ! CVT clutching is so interesting !

Looking forward to meet you guys !

Once you get your baseline clutching the big key clutching for elevation should be somewhat mathmatical. Thats how OEM figures are put together(i think) They are clutching for the HP the sled will be putting out. I assume 10% loss in power may equal 10% less weight in the primary. Just a guess.

I will be heading out west blind with my clutch specs except for what I read on here 05 600 136". I am running the TRA III and A/C roller secondary. Les and skip have put there setups on here. A starting point only and fine tune from there.

Right now I just planned on running What the skidoo mxz 600 specs are since that is what motor is in there. As far as the roller it will be a crap shoot.

Wish I could make hawkfest this year but I already had trip planned to IP the week after. Also, work doesn't let more than 2 men on vaca at same time:mad:
