Parents winter in Palm Springs. Thinking about taking the kids to Anaheim.

Who has been to a race? Can you get "pit passes"? Or opportunity to meet racers. Any tips or tricks?

I've been to the SX finals in Vegas. Plan on making a day of it as there are other things going on in the pits to enjoy between watching practices and the actual race like tire changing contests, racing RC cars, things on display, etc. Pits are pretty much open to the public. The race rigs are all lined up and have canopies with a little fenced off area in front of them. You can watch the mechanics clean and prep all the bikes and when the racers have some free time they will sit by the edge and sign posters for fans. We got there right when practice started and watched that before going into the pits. Seems most of the racers were in work mode then so it might be easier to get an autograph or meet them earlier in the day.

Awesome! Thank you!

Thought about Vegas. All my buddies said NFW on taking the kids to Vegas.

There's plenty of kids in Vegas at all times. Including during the races.

I did the BTO VIP Fan Experience with JT$ last year in New Jersey and it was the best time I could have had. It's expensive so I wouldn't recommend doing it with the family, but the VIP treatment for sure. Hang out in the BTO Sports rig, stay behind the scenes with the riders, watch the racing from the pressbox, track walk, have lunch with Georgia Albertson....it's about the greatest thing you can do at the races. And $700/Person.

But other than going that route, go early, catch the pits before the masses get there and stay late and wander the pits. Practice is always awesome to watch, that's some of the best time I have at the races. Lots of people rather watch from the triples, but I like going nearest to the whoops, most carnage and heroics all in one section. And don't be afraid to go up 10-20 rows. Sitting down by the photographers at the bottom keep you from seeing action in bowl turns and the like. And that's where the action is, turns and whoops. Altho the kids may be all about the big jumps, so there's that to consider too.

Have fun! It's an absolute blast!
