I wear glasses and am looking at buying a new helmet. I have always worn a motorcross style helmet with goggles but was thinking of a modular helmet. Can you please tell me if this is a good helmet if you wear glasses??

Thanks in advance for any and all help!!!

I don't have anything for you on the helmet, but why wouldn't you just get contacts? I've never tried wearing my glasses when riding. Has to be a major pain when they fog or get sprayed with pow.

I wear contacts to bride with. That's the only time I wear them is in the winter. Simply for the reason that I can't get my glasses to quit fogging and I don't like to ride without em.

I know a guy that rides with one and he swears by it, although he's had to listen to people give him a hard time about it because it's not what they wear, or would ever wear. Search for "NMFH"thread on page 4'. Takes a thick skin, or could care less about others opinion, probably a good option if you're not a candidate for contacts.

Watching this thread because I am on the verge of needing distance correction and am not a candidate for contacts. Astigmatism. My eye appt is this week.

I will have to ask the doc again about wearing contacts because I could have swore a couple years ago he told me no can do.

I know a older guy that cant wear contacts and uses prescription goggles. Loves them. Cant think of the name...

For astigmatism the contacts are weighted to keep them in the correct orientation. Great if u never blink! They work good for some and not so good for others. When the lens turns vision is worse than not having contacts.

Prescription goggles are pretty common in skiing.

Oakley, smith, dragon etc all make lenses to take the inserts.

Beats huffing on a snot shield all day.

Dry eyes

I just have to dry of eyes to wear contacts. Yeah wish it were that easy but its not!

A few people in my group have the Pro-Vue prescription goggles. Only one has had a problem with fogging, but didn't have a good enough helmet setup with them.

Another had a modular. Worked great, then we'd get off trail. No he didn't wear glasses, but needless to say he now wears a mx style and goggles.

No helmet works good with glasses! I used to use contacts for sledding only never had a problem was awesome. Got my eyes lazered about 15 years ago, just to have no glasses at all in winter. My eyes never liked contacts in summer but no issues sledding. Makes you a way better rider when you can see lol.
i paid 3300 for both eyes. going to need a touch up soon or maybe some contacts but still very good vision.

I can't wear contacts in the summer either. My eyes always feel like they have a bucket of sand in them.
In the winter when I am riding they water enough that they dont get that dry irritated feeling.

I wear Pro-vue goggles (with the fan) a no-fog mask, and quick straps.
Once it gets warm enough I take the mask off.

I have ridden where it has been snowing and they lasted for about 4 hours of ridding.
With out moisture in the air you don't even have to take them off when you stop.
Once everything gets fogged up the only way to get them dry was to take them inside somewhere.

Make sure the goggles fit the helmet as tight as possible.

I tried contacts and all the no fog sprays and home remedies for glasses and the pro-vues were the only thing I could make work.

I have pretty severe astigmastism in my left eye and wear contacts without a problem. I can't wear glasses to ride at all. Just had mine updated, and seeing 20/15 according to the eye doctor. And I'm blind as a bat without them.

Some first hand experience as my father has used ones for years in the midwest and loves them (modular). He upgraded to the 509 ZERO Helmet over the summer which was discontinued but you can still find them. One of the lightest and best quality modular's I have ever seen. He has warn glasses all his life and the modular works great for him......In the midwest. He also has a set of his prescription glasses in a yellow tint he uses a lot while riding. His biggest complaint has always been the weight of them, but his new 509 ZERO is a lot lighter then the Polaris ones he has used for the past 10 years.

Now when we head out west he has tried the modular but being limited to clear or yellow glasses only they are not always the best color for the situation. He has tried my KLIM F4 with some 509 X5's over his glasses and that has worked pretty nice too. But he kind of gets caught as he loves the easy access of the modular but loves the color options of having goggles. I swapped with him last year so that he could try my 509 Carbon Fiber helmet and after about 30 mins I could not believe how heavy the Polaris modular was and how noticeable the weight felt. I could deal with them a lot better if I was just trail riding but playing off trail it was a lot of weight to carry all day. The other downside he has talked about is the warmth. Great for being on the trails but once off trail it was hard to control temp like it was with a goggle set-up.

Hope some of this helps you out.....

I wear glasses and a modular for riding. I've got a set of Rx, polarized, lenses in a discontinued Oakley frame that I love.
I've been using a modular helmet since I started riding. Yea... folks like to poke fun and all that. I could give a rats ***. I'm not out there for the fashion show.

Most of the time I leave the snot-shield cracked, just a hair to let the air flow through. Takes care of any fogging issues and nothing gets through the Rx sunglasses to get in my eyes anyway.

There are a lot of options out there... many I've read that seem like they would be great but I live on SSDI, so extra spending cash isn't often an option.

Anyway... if you aren't in it for the fashion show either, you should be fine for now. I don't know anything about your specific model and you likely won't get much help on that... since everyone loves to crack on the Mod Helmet wearers like we're straight off the short-bus or something.
My modular is just a cheap-***, knock off but it does the job I need it to do. ;)

IF I had the money to blow... I'd go for the Rx goggles and the MX helmet though.
