MY 2025 Arctic Cat Mountain Cat 858 models with ATAC operating instructions from Woody67.

These are my findings and not instructions from Arctic Cat.

The LH Gauge control button can adjust the following features:

  • Choose any one of the four available G8 screens. Map, Vehicle, Media, and Phone
  • Choose any one of the five available ATAC suspension settings soft, medium, firm, driver one and driver two.
  • Choose lock or unlock setting on the rear track shock.
Shortly after starting the sled the current state of the ATAC system will be shown in the center of the gauge. This will be the setting active when the sled was shut off. The setting will then minimize in the lower RH portion of the screen.

The available states are the following:

ATAC suspension setting shown in white. The ATAC system is locked, using the gauge left and right buttons will cycle through the four G8 screens.

Press and release the center button to unlock the ATAC system.

ATAC suspension setting shown in green. The ATAC suspension setting is unlocked. The left and right button pushes will cycle through the five available suspension settings.

Press and release the center button to change to lock and unlock functionality.

ATAC suspension lock or unlock is shown in green. The left and right button pushes will cycle between lock and unlock.

To exit the lock and unlock function you must wait for it to minimize then press and hold the center button until ATAC setting appears in white. You can then wait for it to minimize and be in state number 1 or you can press and release again and be in state number 2.

At this time, I can find no way to quickly cycle between the three available features.

This will allow setting the suspension easily, then choosing the feature you want active while riding. It is not perfect but works well once you do it a few times.

We evaluated this on multiple M sleds with ATAC today.

Woody, thanks for helping us all who are having issues with the ATAC system.

Is there a procedure to "reboot" the G8? I tried disconnecting the hood harness, reconnect and start machine. Didn't work. My machine is still stuck in the lock/unlock mode for the RTS. At first I thought it might be a bad switch, particularly the center part. But, I have the ability to hold it and clear the ATAC icon and scroll between the four screens. But pressing it (center) only allows the lock/unlock to ever appear. Never the ATAC settings or Drivers.

I have had those aforementioned settings appear prior to my last ride, as I set it to "Driver 1" with the handlebar controls. The problem started once on the mountain and the first time I put it into lockout. That's where it became "stuck" and continues to be.

Also, if I was in driver 1 and it's settings prior to this glitch, is that where my shocks remain? My driver 1 shock settings were all set to "medium" and that is fine with me as I am still able to control the lockout function. The dealer and Cat can deal with this after the season if that is the case. Thanks in advance.

When you press and hold and the ATAC setting appears in white you need to release it then push and release again and it should go to ATAC settings in green so you can cycle through the 5 dampening settings. Let me know if this works.

Yes, it will remain in driver's 1 (or whichever suspension setting that you have it in) when toggling the RTS in/out of lock out mode. Most of us are going to have a preferred suspension setting when playing on the hill and it's nice to know that will not change when locking/unlocking the RTS.

When heading back out on the trial after playing in the mountains and you want to change your suspension setting. The key as Woody mentioned, is to change the icon from Green to White and then back to Green again, then you can adjust your suspension setting.

FWIW, I have my driver's 1 and 2 set so that the front shocks and RTS are different. For example, driver 1 is RTS soft, skis medium and driver 2 is RTS medium, skis firm. By having the front and rear dampening settings different, it truly does give you 5 different suspension options.
