Good day. Trying to cut some weight from my M1000. Was considering gutting the stock air box and placing more holes in it then covering airbox with a frogskin type material. Will add a bunch more vents to the hood and front bumper. Any advice? i already have a spare gutted hood for my sled. Anybody done something like this or should i buck up and buy a BDX intake setup. Thanks.

air box

I tried running a one on the 09 M8 I rode last year, I cut the two front corners off, then drilled some holes and ran filter material. Still ran the bezel and hood intake, didn't notice a difference. The Arctic Cat sno-pro air box works pretty good, you need to install vents on the front of the bumper.

Buck up! Buy the BDX! It works!

Id say but the bdx as well its not that expensive, the only thing i didnt like is how you hear all the intake noise afterwards, kind of makes the sled sound like a dead horse even though is running just fine.

If you are going to put an intake on, you will probably need a fuel controller, especially if you have the 09 reflash... that is what has kept me from putting in an intake...
