modded xlt rmk edition how does it do

You will have to do a little more to go where that new of a sled will, like at least a 2 inch paddle and a 144. and you will still be working to get there.

yep, in its day it was the sled to have, still nothing wrong with them, they are just outdated and will really struggle keeping up with the newer iron. There's a lot you can do to an xlt to get more power out of them, but the biggest thing is the little track they came with. You'd probably be better off buying a newer twin instead for the amount of $ it'll take to make the xlt get around as good as your buddy's '03

Had an '95 XLT and loved that sled! Put 2000 miles on it the first and 2nd year I had it. Great sled. Me and 3 buddies each had one. We could get places that nobody else could. But had to go to college, got married a few years later and had to put the sleds on hold for some time. Came home one weekend in '02 and took out the old XLT's thinking we'd relive the glory days. My friend and I rode out butts off getting into an area that most people can't get to. Once we arrived, there were 2 old fat farmers eating subway sandwiches and drinking a pop who had rode in on '02 RMK Edgs sleds with the 159 track. They probably sat on the seat the whole way. I was depressed thinking that I just rode my butt off breaking trail the whole way and feeling like a stud, and these old dudes got to the same place that they'd only been able to get to before in spring conditions.

My point is that the XLT is a fun sled, but they don't even compare to the new sleds these days. But thanks for sparking a memory :)

Yup.........I had about a million miles, and as many good memories on my old XLT. Awesome sled back in the day.

It totally depends on what you want to do with it. It would still be a great sled for ditch bangin or marginal snow. For mountain riding though, technology has just come to far. I think youd be better off spending money on something a little newer and longer if you are planning to do any mods to this one.
