Camp Ripley is welcoming home a group of soldiers, so anyone wanting to say thanks. I know alot of you have express interest and have fealt a bit when other homecomings happened in front of you with out knowing. Here is your chance. Below is my email from the Ride Capt., anyone thinking or going to atten let me know, be glad to meet up and stand the flag line with you my SW bros...

We are going to welcoming the 851st Vertical Engineer Company home Saturday afternoon!

Please join us and help us welcome the unit back to Camp Ripley! This is a great honor and and a wonderful opportunity to show them that we think they are American Heroes. We have enough people for the escort, so what we need is for everyone else to stand the flagline at Camp Ripley.

Bill Dodge is RCIC for the Flagline and he will be there at the Canteen by 3:30 PM

Staging:

4:00 PM Start staging at the Canteen outside the front gates of Camp Ripley
4:25 Go onto Camp and get Flagline set up

We believe the busses will be coming in after 5:00 PM. As it was last year during the Red Bull returns: please allow yourself time to be flexible....it can turn into a one or two hour wait.

I would love to see an awesome sea of flags when we come in! A reminder about holding your flag: Please do not tip it forward, it should be straight up and down. Also, it should never touch the ground. When they see our Flags flying straight and true, they will know we respect and honor them and they will never forget the sight that brought them home!

Please make an effort to be there! Thanks to all of you for all you do, and for stepping up to do the right thing.

There will be a post mission debriefing but we are not sure of the location yet.

B I need a real excuse/reason, I know you just had a child, and what that care takes. But unless you give me a real reason, you can't make it, for 2 hours, when they gave a year plus for you and you children. Come on. I am coming to get you and dragging Jonce out of bed as we know he will still be sleeping. Lets send the right message, not I said thanks....

I know what you are saying and you are correct, they gave more to you and I then we both realize. One of our (jonce and I) best friends spent 22 months over in Iraq and he is chomping at the bit to get back there. But that is another story.

But he works up at Ripley and I have the lucky oppertunity to hang out with a few of our fine soldiers and I have nothing but the up most respect for them! In fact, I am jealous that I am so dang old and cannot stand next to them over seas.

So what time are you coming over to drag Jonce out of bed? I would like to take pics of this!!!

I'll be over at 2:30, if you two want to go. I've got the flags, may even bring some beer.

But seriously, I understand where your coming from, you take care of your friends when they are home. My next door neighbot is at Ripley, I snowblow their drive all winter, as I know he is there, and his wife should not have to shovel. But hate to say, the reason I got involved in the PG, and all the welcome homes I have been involved in, they were at my friends service. I know how it fealt to see people I and his family did not know say, Thank you. It's forever etched in my brain, how that fealt, for someone they did not know. As I know how past generations where welcomed home. And that is not me.

Knowing I still have a few friends over seas, I think its the least I can do to repay what I have seen forward, and be apart of it.

A little added inspiration
