snow snow

Hey Tom

We got 14 inchs of snow on monday night and another 2 today. Tons of riding still but after this weekend I would say no as we are looking at in the 40s. Im about 30 from grand forks in minnesota. To bad its close to race season otherwise would be still riding the bike. Hahaha

Did ya make it out

Hey Tom

Did you make it out this weekend. Just wondering how the bike went in the 45+ temps with wet heavy snow. I have the 8" Slydog on my home built kit and I was finding it being really washy. Were I was riding seamed like there was a crust under the wet 4-6" snow( 2ft total around Barnum ). Have you had any issues like this. Also I think if I bring my ski center line back a little would help. Right now its around 1" forward of the axle. Also think a outside cutting edge would of helped.

I made it out for about 30minutes, the 9" we got Friday morning was almost gone by the time I got home from work. Hard to say why your ski is so washy, what carbide do you run? I am running the stud boy duelly and it works pretty well. I have found that there is a sweet spot for amount of trail your ski has. Too much and it seems to push, too little and you have a ton of bump steer, but turns very well. Bolt some carbides to the edge and see how it handles! I would love to see your kit, post it up! Different style kits have much different handleing chacteristics so it could be that too

Heres a pic

Hey Tom attached is the pic. Had to rig up a plywood snow flap. Will be putting on a aluminum tunnel/snow guard on in the next couple days to do some more testing. It has a M10 suspension with a lighter spring in the rear. Set up on a 05 450X. Saturday was the first day of riding. Been designing and fabing the last couple years. Rev 1 shown working on Rev 3 all aluminum. Rev 4 will have some carbon fiber panels. I have a small machine shop at home and one of my customers is Clearwater composites in Duluth. Something you might want to consider on your chassis. They make a lot of carbon fiber tubes.

nice work

i would suggest you get your ski pivot bolt about 3/4 to 1" behind axle center line.

Thanks

Thanks Tom and J&L. Ill make a new front spindle mount with the center line 1" back. Also another thing could be a factor is the rake on the 450X is more than the R and other motocross bikes.
