Dumb question... Any of you MN guys have your mn numbers and tabs on your sled while riding in Wyoming if you never ride in mn??? I have my sled registered in mn and I know I need a Wyoming trail sticker but can I get by without putting the mn ones on? I should say is it legal to not have them on? Heading to tml in a week. Thanks guys!

Wyoming only cares about Wyoming stickers - no need to show your "home" state.

You need to look at the laws, some states say that you may only use a non-resident sticker if you have your sled permanently registered in another state. I guess you could prove you have it registered in another state by other means than placing the stickers on it.

I believe that display of registration numbers is normally under the jurisdiction of the state that issued the reg. Out west, if you have your WY visitor tag on, your good to go. No MN registration needs to be displayed. If you have to prove that the sled is registered somewhere, a registration card should be sufficient.

One exception that I know of is Michigan. Their trail sticker stipulates that you have normal registration from your state of residence - and display per the respective states regs. Maybe WI is the same. Don't remember.

Have a good trip !

If I remember correctly the paper you get when you buy a Wyoming non-res trail pass says something along the lines of, The non-res permit is only valid if the snowmobile is registered in the state you live in, not word for word but something close to that, but I don't remember anything about having the reg numbers on the sled, but it's never a bad idea to do so, I know myself I don't like putting all that crap on my sled ether! Even the non-res permits.
I have seen some people collect them on there hood, like, look at how many years I been out to wyo or co or id, BFD.

Been to WY many times. All they care about is their sticker. Same with CO, MT, ID. It is not like here in MN, WI, or MI where the Snowmobile Gestapo Police are on your butt.:closed_2:
