Miles on a turbo?

I'm looking at buying my first turboed sled, it's a 2011 m8 162 with a cutlers stage 3 kit with 1200 miles. The guy says he has been running it at 8 lbs boost since day one. My question is how many miles do these turbos last before you have to replace or rebuild them? Thanks Gongshow

It all depends on a rider? The turbo will last longer than the cylinders and pistons as long as it is getting oil. Has he ever squeak it? burnt down? if not nothing should have gone through the turbo and all should be good. With that said i would check the pistons. Has the bearing been changed?

I would have a hard time believing that someone with a race gas turbo only ran 8 pounds. Boost is an addiction and if you buy a rg unit you don't run pump gas psi all the time just sayin

I rode with a guy from Carson City NV who rides a RG stage 3 Cutler setup & only runs 8lbs. Seems odd to me, but that's all he does for whatever reason.

If that's where the guy who's selling this sled is from... Make him give you some BBQ sauce with it... that SH** is phenomenal!:face-icon-small-win

That said, one thing I had never thought of until I had a season on my turbo, with boost you're spinning about 2x the track speed, so you end up putting more "miles" on than a non turbo sled. I put on about 40% more miles than my buddies on a given day. Just something to consider.

I have 2200 on mine so far and all I've had to do was replace the paper gasket between the turbo housing and the oil reservoir line ... been running 8-8.5 psi .... turbine still looks fine.
