Okay thinking its time to get rid of the 05 Chevy D-Max it has 136000 on it and still running strong.....
I am strongly thinking of going gas this time thinking a GMC (Me thinks the GMC`s are sharper looking) anyways i guess my question is anyone out there have the 6.0 liter 2500HD what are you getting MPG pulling and not pulling?????

I dont have a 6.0 in a 2500 but do have a seirra denali with the 6.2 in a 1500... rated to pull a 9700 pd trailer , pulls my buddies big 4 place steel trailer(5000+ with 4 sleds) with ease, gets 8-10 mpg with that trailer running 65+ here in ak(lots of hills)..pulls my steel 2 place(about 2000pds with 2 sleds on) at 10-14 at 65+ and averages 16+ in the summers empty..about 14 in the winter empty....have seen a best of 20 mpg in the summer when keeping it down at 55...and pulls a trailer on slick nasty winter roads waay more comfortably then my 03 suburban 2500 with an 8.1....might be worth a road test just to see if it fits the bill for you....this truck does have the 8.5 axles(you can do a ltz chevy version with the max package and get the 9.5 axles(2500 axles with 6 lug wheels), these new trucks sport a bigger brake package and a better antilock/stability/traction control package then 1 ton trucks from just a few years earlier.....and while I wouldnt want to go out and pull a 10000 pd trailer down slick roads with it everyday... for someone who only pulls a big trailer once in a while..pretty hard to beat....

i have a 2009 2500 with a 6.0 with 285 MT's. at first i was really leery of a gas motor in 2500 as i grew up with diesels. so far i really like it (only had it about 4 months). Only thing i've pulled so far was a car trailer with 3500 lb car. 80 mph and it was smooth and stable.

use to have a 1500 with a 5.3 and it pulled our 4 place enclosed decently but it def wasnt as stable as a 2500. it someone cut you off or had to make a quick lane change things could get squirrely in a hurry.

for mpg i might not be the best example. my commute is 1.25 miles so my truck warms up for 3-4 min, drives for 5, then im there. currently i'm getting 11-12 mpg.

took 1 freeway trip empty (at 75-80 mph) and got around 14-15 mpg
pulling car at 80 mph and i got around 12-13 mpg

forgot to mention the 6 speed works great. shifts smoothly and downshifts well in trailer mode.

I'm looking to upgrade to 2012 GMC 2500HD 6.0 myself. Remember when looking at other reviews that there were many changes to this truck in 2011. New boxed frame, beefed up front and rear suspension, bigger brakes, revised 6.0 engine (6.0's went from 300hp/360lb-ft, 353hp/373lb-ft, to 360hp/380lb-ft currently).

Just went to the bighorns with 2 vehicles. One was a 2010 Chevy 2500 6.0L and he drives like a grandpa, 5 mph under the limit almost all the time. Got 7-8 mpg with a 3 place aluminum enclosed. That was with a strong headwind, but he didn't get much better on the way back, 7-9.

The new 6.0l is a pretty decent motor in the GM trucks.....I made the same trip last year with a 2010 F150 5.4L with a 3 place steel frame enclosed trailer and we averaged 9-10.5mpg depending on wind conditions.

Just bought a new 2011 GMC Duramax and love it. THat doesn't help you much but I bet you would love it too.

Go ahead and flame but I bought a 2011 Toyota Tundra a year ago and is is an impressive truck. I get around 17 mpg daily and around 10 pulling my two place enclosed. The running gear is very beey but I wouldn't tow up to it's rating without a weight distribution hitch or airbags because the springs are pretty soft.

Running a 04 chevy HD reg cab with 6.0 and 4.10's, leveled and 2 inch blocks, 285 MT's, bully dog tuner and exhaust. get about 12 just driving and 8-10 pullin 4 place enclosed or 3 place open. But she's got power! :face-icon-small-hap
