Might be moving from Park City, Utah to Driggs, Idaho. Any help with close riding?

Hello neighbors to the north. Looks like I may be moving from Park City, Utah to Driggs, Idaho. I've ridden to the west of Pinedale a few times up around Hoback Mt. and that's the sort of riding I'm looking for! Are there any areas like that but might be a bit closer to Driggs? I'm guessing to get to the general Hoback Mt. areas I would drive up the Gray river until you hit a parking lot where they stop plowing. Anyone know how far up the river from Alpine you have to drive till they stop plowing?

I see West Yellowstone area is about 2 hours to the north, but the riding there really didn't grab me the way the Hoback Mt. area did. I'd say on a scale from one to ten I'd be about a 8 or 9 for aggressive riding style and ability. The steeper, deeper, and more extreme all the better.
Maybe I'll meet up with some of you from the Driggs area and ride this winter. If your from the area PM me or email me, It would be great to talk ya. Anyway, thanks in advance...

Sorry guys, I was editing a couple things and deleted the original tread :eek:

Anyway... I dug a little deeper with Google Earth, and some Topo software I have.

-Does the riding from Pole Canyon take you up to mountains like... Thompson Peak, Fogg Hill, Palisades Peak, etc?
-If I'm on the right path here whats the riding like up there? Open, tight with mostly boondocking, climbing?
-If I was looking to take the wife and kid out for a ride is it to extreme for that sortof ride?
-How far south and east can you ride from there? Can you get down toward the Alpine area, and the Deadhorse Peak area?

Thanks :beer;

on the east side of the valley yor going to have a lot of wilderness which = no riding. on the west side of the valley you can almost go up any canyon and go boondockin. there is many places around the valley up there. the best thing to do would be to take a day to drive around and look for areas you want to ride and ask other sledders were they go.

Thanks bannockrider. How about heading due south and east of Victor toward the Alpine area? From Google Earth that looks pretty sweet too.

There's some of the best riding around if you head south of Alpine, Wy. to Bedford / Star Valley area. Some of the best boondocking and hillclimbing around. Watch out for avys!!

Thanks Powerstroke.

I've been down that way before, and yes it was great riding.

Right now I'm more interested in finding out how far you can ride if you start at the Pole Canyon area just south of Victor and head due south and east. Hoping one could ride all the way toward the Alpine area from the Pole Canyon area. Looks to me like that would be about a 25 mile long by 10 mile wide square area to play with +/-... Anyone know if what I'm thinking with this stretch is right?? Thanks.
