Midrange stumble or low on fuel?

Coming back from my run yesterday my 09 D800[recall done] I had a serious bog miss for the last few miles.It was approx 4K elevation and went in for a few miles till I got back to the truck.It was low on fuel and this is the first time I have had a real bad hesitation in 700miles.It felt like it was starved for fuel and could not pickup RPM

I had a similiar experience running hard back to the truck w/ my fuel light flashing. Freaked me out so much I did a compression ck. the next day. They must have a hard time getting fuel when at that 2 gallons or less level. Kinda weird. Ran fine after refueling, compression was good.

Yeah im sure thats a fuel issue. not sure how far the pickup tube is from the bottom of the tank. Even with a gallon or two of fuel its hard to trust that the pickup tube is down far enough to suck it up. Kinda like trusting your truck when your digital guage shows you have 5 miles of fuel left.
