Mesa Lakes Lodge Trail??

Can someone help me out by drawing the best route to take from up top down to Mesa Lakes Lodge for a lunch break? Sorry for the lame map, but if you could maybe save it and open it in paint or another program, draw out the best route and repost, that would be great. I understand it's not a problem, But not for a novice rider due to an area called the 'wall'. I would like to take a small group down for lunch next week but not sure of the best route, (never riden down to MLL).

Thanks for any help.

Not sure you can do that...
Alexander and others are opened and have trail access

I thought I read Alexanders is not open at times during the week, I will call to confirm. I am renting a couple sleds from Andy at Mesa Lakes Lodge and would like to give him the lunch business as well as I know he is open 7 days a week right now.

I know there is a way to get there, just not sure of the 'easier' way with a couple novice riders.

EDIT - I meant Andy, not Mike....sorry Andy.

Took me forever to find this.... Anyway from "up top" I assume you mean the Visitor Center Trailhead/ Grand Mesa Lodge area? If so you need to take The SP trail west to the intersection of trails SP/7A/7 and go east then north to Mesa Lake Resort. Now the SP trail is marked and groomed but 7A and 7 are just marked. I don't know the condition of these trails as I have not been up there yet this year.

Good luck!

Oh I got this image off the Delta Snokrusers Facebook page you might have to like their page to view it.

Hopefully you can pick up a map at the lodge. The one printed out in the above post is generally readily available at local snowmobile shops and at the lodges. Also check out Colorado Snowmobile Association's website. Look under 'trail reports/maps' and click on the snowflake on top of Grand Mesa. You'll get a grooming report and there is a map attached to it.

Andy from Mesa Lakes Lodge was working on getting that trail opened back up and groomed this year. I haven't heard whether he had any luck with that. I haven't been down it but I have heard that you are correct in that there is some sort of switchback or something in the trail that is not for novices. Whatever it is, it gives a groomer fits too and that's why, according to my source anyway, it hasn't been part of the grooming schedule for a number of years.

Good luck and happy sledding!

Actually 'up top' meant peel over the edge of the rim where? I know the trails quite well, just have never been 'on a trail' over that rim.......just always peeled over and 'see ya later' type thing. Definately can't do that with these guys.
