mercury+school=?

no school. just because one thermometer broke in a class room! the have had a hazmat team at my school and are now cancelling classes for freshman because it broke in there wing of the school.

So all the other kids will do what anyone would do.... SKIP

except me.
does it seem like a small issue and they are making a big deal out of it?

Unfortunately if word got out and a quick and complete response wasn't issued, lawsuits would fly. Had an Hg thermometer break in the chem lab at my school, same deal. Chem teacher was real good, he took care of the mess right away but the fire dept still had to come out and do their cleanup. Didn't take more than a day though.

1976 chemistry class......teacher passed around a container the size of a coffee cup full of mercury. We stuck our fingers in it to feel the density of the stuff.

They just don't make kids like they used to. :D

Ever hear of anyone dying from 'natural causes' anymore?

Yeah, and I used to drink water that came out of a garden hose, rode unrestrained in the back of a pickup and played cowboys and indians, OMG, how did I survive???????????

Serious?! 4 years ago, my 8th grade science teacher passed around about a quarter sized pool of mercury, he would let us FLICK it and collect up all the pieces and let them flow back together, we thought it was the coolest thing ever! That was only 4 years ago, maybe that's what is wrong with me!?

If I'm thirsty I'll drink water where ever there's water as long as it's clean looking. Placed I used to work last summer we were always in people's yards because we were laying underground fiber optic line, I'd go drink out of everybody's outside faucet. :D The city boys with their bottles of water looked at me like I was crazy. I think it's pointless to go the doctor for the common cold and stuff(unless you're a kid, senior citizen or in poor health). I just let it run it's course, doesn't cost me nothing and I don't get sick very often. Building immunity without all these drugs nowadays is good for ya IMO. Do people realize how many germs are actually living in your body at all times?

haha, yeah; there was an old lady (probably 90 or so) the news interviewed... spouting off about how "oh they're so dangerous, all this new-fangled technology"

hell-arious.

so if i wanted a couple snow days to go sleddin, all i gotta do is break a thermometer? SCORE! lmfao
pretty much.

its weird, im probably the least worried about how what i eat or drink, on or out of and i get sick once every year or so. and not for long, eating weird things and not getting sick seems like a much better deal then spending hundreds and thousands of dollars to proctect yourself from being healthy seems kinda dumb.

gotta die of something! lol but docs and scientists are finding out all this crap that causes cancer! before you know it they are going to say breathing increases your risk of getting cancer lol.

im sure we would just clean it up with some rubber gloves instead of calling ER(Environmental Restoration... the EPA)

I am the same way. The foods that i eat are not "healthy". I am not a clean freak. Ill wash my hands when they are dirty but dont wash them before I eat every meal and every hour to keep clean like many people I know.

Of the people I know, the "cleanest" ones(washing hands all the time, eating "good" food, and always going to the doctor for meds.) are the most sick.

I get truly sick every other year or so, and even then it is only for a day or 2.

nope, you will die instantly from such close proximity to lead...

i cant wait until we find out the internet is bad for us, and IT gets shut down as well, oh well.

I think they are just looking to pin the tail on a donkey with some of their theories

Myself, I have had mercury slpash in my eyes while syncronizing carbs on bikes while using merc gauges. Go to the doc to get it flushed out then back at work in a couple hours. No problems to date and this has happened quite a few times.

Next kids will be writing with fat crayons because lead pencils can kill them

When does it end ??

Yeah, our science teacher did the same thing in Junior High. He was always asking if we had something with mercury in it that we or our parents didn't need to bring it to school so he could add to his mercury collection. He's in his seventies now and still smokes like a chimney......go figure.

^^^LOL seems like alot of people who smoke drink and chew and drive with their seat belt unbuckled live longer than everyone else lol
