great post Karen.

l went dirt biking Friday and while loading up to head home I struck up a conversation with the people next to me. They were air guard getting in a day of riding. Sad thing is they were very cautious to tell me they were military. When I told them thanks they beamed. They told me they are not use to being thanked in "you know.... this part of the country"
