Melt downs

Hay we had 3 sleds melt down this weekend was wondering if any one got gas at the 6 station in gypsum and had this problem too. Does anyone know who could test this gas for us.

I will never get fuel there ever again!!! last year got fuel there last year and BOOM! blown up!! mine was cuz water got throught the injectors and cracked the pistons!! I have shuned that place for good with all my vehicles! i dont even care for stop and save. i just load up and go to eagle the night before or just stop there in the morning!!!

I dunno.. just heard bad things from fuel there.. buddies boat runnin funny.. 4 wheelers/dirt bikes runnin funny.. just not going to chance it! I know the owner of eagle sinclair I know he gets good fuel.. I just take the time and fuel there!

I hear ya, I think that the kumandgo in Kremmling has chitty gas too. I kept getting deto warnings, I had to add octane booster until I ran out of all the fuel that I had purchased there. Started buying fuel at the Buggy Stop at the west end of town and no more problems.

I've been getting gas there all year (the station by the highway in Gypsum).
Just filled up Sat night, 87 octane in the M7 and 91 in the 1000. Ran about 10gal thru the 1000 on Sun and was burning leftover gas from there from the previous weekend.
No issues, but I'll start fueling in Eagle now!

I have had similar issues at diff stations. I believe some add alcohol by law in the winter? Anyways, without ANY changes I have had sleds run lean then rich going same place at about same temp.

Could be worse, a station I won't name near Cripple Creek once put diesel in an unleaded tank once on accident. You guess if they drained the tank completley or just topped it off...

Anyways, I ALWAYS run my sleds on the rich side after having a few of these problems in the past.

Good to know. We usually fuel up there when we ride the ears.

As for the place in Gypsum, I don't know but it sounds like you got fuel that is oxygenated. Oxygenated fuel is required in all METRO area fuel locations but many times it is delivered everywhere else as well. I know both the West Vail Shell and the Edwards Shell carry NON-Oxygenated fuel. Both of those places cost more than anywhere else but it is still cheaper than a burn down.

I have heard that the Sinclair in Eagle also has non-Oxygenated fuel but I don't know for sure.

Google fuel testing and you will find plenty of places that do it. I really don't know what it will do for you. Even if there is alcohol (ethanol is added many times) there is nothing against the law in doing that and in many cases it is required.

I do think that it should be a STATE LAW to HAVE to display a sticker on the pump to notify people that the fuel is oxygenated. It might be law, but I don't know for sure, and there are plenty of places that do not. Assume all fuel is oxygenated until you find a safe place.

Better than them putting gasoline in the diesel tank! ;)

Diesel will actually burn in a gas motor, not great but generally doesn't do damage.

Gas in a diesel motor can cause some serious problems.

I hate looking for gas here, that stupid *** sticker...Fuel MAY contain ethanol? I don't want to know what it MAY contain I want to know what I'm ACTUALLY buying. In South Dakota it was always 87 octane regular, 89 octane with 10% ethanol, and 91 octane premium. I've always tried to buy Shell Premium, V-Power I think its called? I've heard good things about it, anyone know if this is bullsh*t?

Your best luck in the Denver Metro area (North) is going to be Weld County. Weld doesn't have to follow the air quality fuel regulations that the Denver Metro areas do. There is a place on Highway 85 just North of Brighton. I think it is around Dacano and I think it is a Conaco. It is about 8 miles North of Brighton. I'll try to get more info on its location. I found it once and know where it is at, but it intersects with a major County Road on 85.
