Anyone had any bad experiences? Everyone that I have ever met at the riding places that knew of snowest was a very good rider. Has anyone had any bad experiences? I haven't. Kind of amazing how many really good riders there are out there.

Just curious.

Holy carp...Just a wild guess here but I'd say several hundred if not close to a thousand different snowesters over the past 12 years. More if you count giant get to gether events...I'm just factoring actual ride alongs.

Baked the biggest cake but it had no frosting:

Teton Ice

Actually in Ice's defense he puts down some really wild off the wall crap on the internet but in real life person was hilarious and really quite a good guy that I enjoyed hanging around with. His skills on the sticks were..... well....lets just say not really there. That was years ago though!

While the majority were adequate to above average riders there have been litterly hundreds that could flat out RIDE. Most you never here a peep from.

Furthermore:
Over the years how many times did we hear about this sled being the fastest and the furious ist? Lot's! How many did we actually see go that good across the west...NOT THAT MANY!

I've probably only met about a dozen on the hill over the last few years that I've actually talked to, recognized, or recognized me.....

All nice people!:D

The 2 people I ride with now, I met on the forum.:D

before this year.. I think like 1 or 2.. this year the sled definately got peoples eyes.. I didnt know screen names and most admited to being lurkers, but its really cool to chat with people, most seemed to be really cool folks and were interested in the sled because they had read about it or seen some pics, its need to get to show off your stuff in person.

I have to admit that for the most part I'm pretty shy and don't visit with other snowmobilers on the mountain. Perhaps some see me as being stuck up ... but really, I just like to mind my own business.

I am impressed by riding skills out of the snow. Most are very competent.

One of the reasons I like to stay low profile is because when certain people realize that I'm with the magazine, they tend to try to show off how great of riders they are ... like I'm going to discover them and make them a cover-boy. It's usually those guys I try to avoid. They are the ones that are dangerous on the hill. (I've actually had those types highmark me when I'm stuck on a hill just to show that they're better ... and we all know what can potentially happen when someone highmarks a stuck sled on the hill.)

But every now and then, I'll try to take the time to visit with people and see where they are from. It's surprising how many groups I see in the mountains that are from the Midwest. And I have to give them credit ... they may be out of their element but they don't shy away from the challenge of the steep and deep.

I have not gotten the chance to meet anyone on this forum yet. I have always wanted to meet up with some people on here but honestly I don't want to slow anyone down. I have only been to the mountains 4-5 times and i'm still learning. I hope maybe next year to meet up with a few people if they don't mind me slowing them down.

I've met quite a few from here. Rather interesting being flagged down from someone recognizing pics of your sled.....then finding out who they are. I haven't had any bad experiences...and am always happy to meet peeps from here out on the snow. :face-icon-small-coo

I guess any bad would be hearing that someone recognized me out there, but didn't say anything. :face-icon-small-sad

06 RMK 900....There are lots that ride with folks of different skill levels. As long as someone doesn't try to say they are lots better than they really are, then it can be very enjoyable because the ride can be planned accordingly. It's when someone says they are a great rider, so you plan a tougher ride, only to find out that isn't the case. That can really turn into a bad day. Most times though, when peeps are honest, it can turn out even better than expected. :)

I have gone on two rides with separate snowesters in the last week or so. Really glad I did. It is nice to ride with different people and see how they do things a little different. Both were good riders and good people in general. Hope to do it again.

Our whole riding group is comprised of people who met thru Snowest
Same here. Papa Bear, who I ride with, sold me a track (off of here) two years before I moved out to Washington. I went riding with a guy, saying that I bought a track from this guy from washington, and it ended up being him!! lol Small world isn't it? My other buddy, yammadog, helped me figure things out when I was moving out here. Never met him before and he was amazingly helpful. He was a little worried about how I would be able to ride, especially after I got my Nytro. Once he saw me jump the thing though, he got excited. Or maybe it was because I do stupid things all the time and make him laugh? I don't know... lol

It isn't as bad as you think... lol Been there done that. Political views are important when riding snowmobiles, didn't you know? :face-icon-small-con

I've had many PM's prior to people passing through Nevada, usually headed to Utah or Colorado, who wanted a quick tour of the Ruby Mountains. I have never had a bad experience, but have created many great memories and have met a few new great friends. One of sleddings greatest attributes is all the good people you meet living life to the fullest. I used to travel to new snowmobile destinations before gas hit $3 and would simply hook up with who ever looked a little redneck in the parking lot, have some lasting memories.:tea:

I met a guy on here that goes by M8Chris, he has a 2010 M8 and I have never in my life seen a sled stuck as much as this one. I mean he should seriously take up baseball or some other summer sport it is ridiculous how he can't ride:face-icon-small-ton:face-icon-small-ton:biggrin1::p;)

Ahh, fellow SledWhores! i will ride with just about anybody, or at least give it a try once. its always worked out for me and most i still ride with unless they move. some push you and sometimes you push them, but either way as long as i am on the mountain i have a great time.

I rode with 2 guys today that I talked to on Snowest yesterday. Put out an invitation in the riding areas thread and by later that same day we had a plan. Great guys and even though it wasnt an epic day it was alot of fun. Thanks for the tour Torqmonster.

It's like a circus at times with you Ruffy...LOL....

I have had nothing but great experiences riding with snowesters. years ago I had issue with my regular riding group getting flakey and not going so I turned to the 4m to find someone and now it's exclusively 4m people I ride with. Pretty much my best buds are all 4m dudes. I have yet to ride with anyone that I wouldn't ride with again because of skill or fear...everyone is willing to get stuck because they are pushing themselves. And that's what I like, folks willing to get out and explore.

My first 4m riding partner....Rosco...at Mt. Baker....way up a dirt road in the middle of no where...and it was my first time at baker as well.

I met all my riding buddies thru the forum. There are a couple that I only rode with once. Most of them are good people that I'd ride with again and usually do at least once a year. There are half a dozen that I ride with all the time and has made riding alot more fun than it was 10 years ago.

alot of the people i've met and ride with are snowest members

after riding with them they would let me know their snowest names, lots of good riders and great people

Pretty much everyone I currently ride with I met through SW one way or another. I worked with GSLIM before learning of SW in 1999. Went on the second day of the first "official" SW ride at Togwatee with my dad, GSLIM, F-Bomb, Slick Willy and crew in March, 2001 and got schooled pretty good. Been a blast ever since with likely over 200 different people that I can think of that I've ridden with. Can only think of one person that wasn't straight up awesome out of all the peeps I've met. Most everyone I've met on SW is a pretty good rider...all less experienced riders I've been out with are non-sw'esters.
