Have you looked into the Evo turbos? My plan was to get theirs But funding was getting short. Every one else is using MPI around here ( which is a good kit ) but I wanted to be different. Mcx was another option for me but I liked the dual mapping from Evo better. Fred

Mcx

Mcx has been around along time. From what I see they are the most gas and go turbos out there.. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to give boost-it a try. Neil has some really nice options, and his fuel controller works flawless..

Not sure what sled the turbo is for (I assume a new viper?), but I purchased a 2014 viper from Mark Leipheimer and it had a 190 hp kit from mcx on it. Its absolutely dialed both mapping and clutching. Best turbo sled I have had to date (I have had a impulse nytro and apex).

I was able to test ride the viper this spring, tried the MPI 190 as well as the local dealers 190MCX in 153,162, and 174 track lengths, hands down MCX, better throttle response and seemed far more powerful. Unfortunately finances didn't allow the new sled purchase this winter...

MCX

Go with an MCX kit. This is my fifth year on one and not one problem. Also look at the yamaha swapmeet section. Anything other than impulse and MCX people are happy to drop there pants to sell there sleds.

Have used MCX since autumn 06, never had an issue.
Superb power, quite with an meaty tone in Viper which is important, we have sound restrictions in Sweden, we don't want to close any more riding areas, people with loud sleds destroys for alot of people.

They also have some cool add-ons.
1. Their display, show all data in realtime, for ex: AFR, boost, rpm, WITH logging. And it add tuning (use carefully).
2. Bluetooth module, you see all info in smart phone but the great part: logging function. More advanced users can change maps from smart phone. Everyone have heard about Autotune, hook an laptop up and you can finetune maps with Autotune.

MCX have had 2 boost levels built in since 2006, cool for race days, but not used as "everyday" since clutching is a must when changed = the only reason i bought an Tapp clutch.

Need some clarity from someone who has installed the MCX. Their site says install time is something like 16 hours. That doesn't sound too simple to me, especially when an outfit like Hurricane says that theirs is like 3 hours. Obviously I am missing something?

I haven't seen a mpi kit yet seems like it's top secret on what's in it I have researched it is the Mitsubishi turbo the same as mcx? How are they fueling it? I've read stock mpi turbo at 4 lbs of boost doesn't sound like enough to justify cost. If you upgrade the this system how much boost and hp is it close to 270?

I can't remember for sure but I think when I looked at the MPI kit at a show a few years back they were using a 15G. Don't quote me on that it may have been a Push but anyways point is the G series is a much cheaper turbo than either the 16T or the 19T and it is a much older design. They were stock on mid 90's Volvo cars that ran about 5 lbs boost. Externally they look the same and you can convert a G to a T by switching the CHRA but for the price you might just as well buy a T series right out of the chute. The G series if I remember has a 7 fin compressor wheel and the T turbos are 9 fin.

You are correct according to the information posted on SnoWest last year.

Funny stuff, a couple of years ago MPI was still saying supercharger was much better then Turbo, where are their supercharger kit's now?

Headshim takes a few hours. A good install makes all the difference.

Mcx 270

My local dealer installed a 270 mcx on my viper. It took about 19-21hrs, and looks factory. I had him install some extras like roll over valve, digital boost guage, belly pan, and snorkel intake. The motor can stay in on the viper, so that speeds things up.. Don't rush it, you'll be sorry if you do.

First test run out, it tried to rip my arms off! And then it did it again, and again!! So much for a break in procedure!

Speaking from experience, don't rush it.. It's a sled you can enjoy for many years.
