Mcx Nytro turbo mods for Powder riding

What are you doing for riding in the powder, I am having problems with my air intake freezing, I heard that cr racing has a kit that puts the exhaust in the tunnel and shields the turbo, but they tell me it is for aftermarket tunnels. I have the factory tunnel. any help would be apreciated.

i just made a shield that fits in next to the muffler and covers the air intake toatally, I figure its worth a shot if it keeps the snow from getting on the filter maybe it wont freeze, and if it does then maybe it will be warm enough in there to keep it thawed. I'll ride tomorrow if it works I will post some pics and let everyone know, I want to do a tunnel but not till summer hope this works for now.

The snorkel is the way to go! We rode in 3 to 4 feet of power on top of a 10 foot base today. No problems. Needless to say it was epic.
Front stock shocks are fine. Need to crank the preload spring as far as they will go. The rear torsion springs are too weak. There is a great fix to prevent the rear from bottoming out. I put Polaris "blocks" on the rails behind the the torsion springs so that when the springs ar 2/3 of the way through their travel they contact the blocks and increase the load. 9 out of 10 times the suspension won't bottom out.

i will be doing an under the tunnel exhaust on my MCX kit with the stock tunnel. Also i will have the intake snorkled. All being done hopefully next week

I was thinking of dumping the exhaust into the tunnel as well, but I wasn't sure if the turbo needs some back pressure or not or if the length of the pipe made a difference.

The exhaust can be straight piped into the tunnel, no muffler?
How loud will it be and will this not affect the back pressure?
Just extremely annoyed with the exhaust heat and the jerry cans.

backpressure is not a issue with a turbo 4stroke & it depends on how much pow you are riding in anything over a 1ft its almost too quite sping snow it can be a bit loud.

Very wrong back-pressure affects turbos as bad or worse than normally aspirated engines.

It slows down exhaust flow =less turbo RPM=less power.

We found that out on early MCX Phazers that dumped into the tunnel right where the track threw snow at it.

If you dump forward or where the track rotation scavenges the exhaust you will be fine.

Cheers.......

We have been doing this type of mod on every kit we install. This is not just MCX nor Nytros. We have to do this because of the type of snow we ride in. I don't see why MCX would be sending a free update for this. There is no way that we can run the stock MCX Apex air filter design, but most people can as far as I have heard.
And as sledskiing said, it's a cheap part for an upgrade for those that need it.
