mcx apex return oil pump shear pins

does anybody know if the shear pins on the mcx return oil pump are anything special or just a standard shear pin? if they are just a standard pin does anybody have the sizes of them? I pulled mine apart today and the pins are worn pretty bad and i just want to replace them. Thanks in advance for any info.

Not sure of the grade. I get mine grom PG Yamaha in BC. Sometimes they send me the roll pins which are wrong. They do wear and they will break sometimes.

The pin i am talking about is the MCX oil pin. Same one i think u are talking about. SB

MCX Oil Pumps

MC-XPRESS Apex and Nytro pumps look the same but are different internally

Crankshaft rotation is different between Apex and Nytro

Oh, there must be a roll pin holding the pump gear onto the shaft as well. Lol I never noticed. I was wondering why they kept sending me the roll pins lol. That is pretty funny. Are they the same for sure Apexxpress ? PG sends me a roll pin every once in a while ? Curious

Just stopped in at PG. Nope. They are the exact same pin. They didnt really know why they sent hollow pins out lol.

For the OP i see you live in Leth. I bought a couple extras if you need. I can get them to ThistleDoo and im sure you could grab them from him if you need. Let me know. SB

I'd check it. I ran mine for 3 years (2 stock and 3 boosted). Mine was worn down so I changed it.. Season and a half later I had one break. Kinda strange IMO ! Just a bunch of smoke from no oil evacuation from the turbo. I went down and changed it in the trailer. No biggy

If you are going to change it don't use the oil pump bolts (torx) to unscrew it. Find some M4 (I think) bolts to use in the holes to pry it loose ! They will bend most likely if the pump has not been pulled out. The first time I did it, it messed up the threads and I had to get a machine shop to replace. The last time I fixed it, it came out easier.

If you need a sheer pin let me know. I have 5 or 6 spares in the trailer for emergencies. It will save you on shipping lol
