MCX 240 Nytro running lean?????

Ok to start I am kinda new at this and I just want to make sure that I am not damaging my engine? I need to mention that I am a flatlander and run my Nytro at 1000ft to 1500ft in elevation.

My first few hundred miles I could only get 165KPA(approx 9psi) on the MCX display and running 12.5 A/F at WOT. So, I decided to shorten the wastegate rod two turns and I filled the tank and added 1 gallon of 100LL avgas just to be safe?

Now. I am running 175KPA with a A/F of approx 12.8 ish? When I smack the throttle it immediatly reads 13.5/13.9 and slowly creeps to 12.9 and I need to shut it down since I am out of room in th field I am testing in. Maybe If I had more room it would come down....who knows? Does adding boost lean it out?

I would rather hit the gas and see a 10 or 11 AFR and creep on to 12 or 12.2 ish wouldn't that make more sense?

Please give me some advice so I can get this thing on the right track?

One more thing is that I cannot get my MCX display to communicate wih my laptop? My buddy's laptop works so I can add fuel if need be?

I thought a lower number on the A/F gauge was lean and a higher number was fat?!? Maybe I'm wrong...... I run propane though and 12.5 is perfect. I was also told you need to run at least 10 seconds WOT to get the correct reading

No....the higher the number the leaner the engine is. I also think after ten seconds if you are in the "lean" range that you would be coffin' up six k for a new motor. That is simply too long to hold her down when you are running possibly lean IMO? But I could be wrong but I sure not gonna chance it!

Here is a brief look at a log. At wot mine will drop to 10's. You may need to adjust your fuel table.

Are you running stock pump? It may be running out of fuel.

I am running stock pump but I am battling with this MCX display and not able to get it to communicate with my laptop? Maybe cause I have windows Vista?

I also think you are a little "fat" at WOT what do you think?

Thanks T-Bird! I think I tried this already with no success. I am now looking for a older laptop with windows XP since I am told that it's piece of cake?

Yeah, it will work with Vista and newer no problem, but no matter of OS it depends on Java, difficult to help you much more, if the device appears in device manager, and there are no "unknown device" the computer most problably misses Java, check @ www.java.com if that's the case.

Thanks guys for all the help! I will try that tonight and hopefully it will communicate? If it does....then what do I do lol?? I guess I will post that question once I get it to communicate??????

I launch megatune and use the communicate function to figure out what port I am hook up too.

Then launch down load logger. Select the com port and hit download and save to desired location. I like to save them in excel format.....easier to view.

Finally!!!

Yes! After wees of trying to get this thing to communicate I got it! Thanks to all the help from all you guys on this site since I would still be scratching my head for weeks to come lol.

Now can somebody give me any insight on how to add fuel? It states on the intruction dvd to refer to the box manual found in the kit? I did not get one? Thanks again to all I am now on the right foot!

I have yet to mess with fuel tables as you need many runs to get an accurate picture.

runs at 1/4. 1/2, 3/4 and full throttle.

Unless you are lean all the time then you just need more fuel. You may not have the mapping and again if you increase boost your stock pump wont be able to handle much.

Those engines are pricey.
