Fellow Sledders,
The Valley County Grooming programs (McCall/Donnelly, Cascade, Warm Lake and Smith Ferry) are getting off to a bit of a rough start this season, but they are moving forward.
The McCall groomer out of the Francis Wallace groomer shed went on a test run earlier in the week and developed a leak. The groomer operator limped the groomer back to the shop, only to find that the final drive went out. Parts were ordered and the groomer is being prepped to accept the new part when it comes in on Monday. The program should have the groomer running by mid week. This groomer services the Copet cr, Brundage Reservoir, Hazard Lake areas and also pre-grooms to Warren before the larger New Holland groomer can run.
While the McCall groomer is down the Donnelly groomer will be doing double duty.
The tentative schedule for the Valley is:
On 12-23 the Donnelly groomer will travel over Red Ridge and go to West Face and possibly High Elevation. If possible there will be some grooming out of High Elevation on Thursday 12-24. Then after Christmas, grooming will be done for a few days in the High Elevation area and possibly Copet Creek.
The Donnelly groomer will return to Donnelly Tuesday 12-29 to groom for the Donnelly snowmobile club fun run being held on the weekend. Hopefully this groomer will get to stay in Donnelly after this event.
The New Holland will tentatively make a test run to Burgdorf Junction Wednesday 12-23. If all works well then the Warren run will start the first of next week and get into a schedule.
The Cascade groomer has a few issues and with all of the glitches from the other programs, will be on the Snow Monday 12-28.
Smith’s Ferry groomer had some cooling system problems following its test run, but the program is confident they found an air lock as the problem. This groomer should be running on Thursday 12-23.
Thank you for your patience, the programs are working diligently to address these early season issues to provide you with a quality product for the entire season.
