are they still grooming in the mc call area

i will be there fri-sun

what has been groomed most recently

THANKS!!!

Funny, Brundage is still grooming. But, again the snowmobile trail grooming seems to end a little early. Last year, Adams county had to cough up some fuel, to save the day. What was the reason this year quitting early? Let me guess, money.

Got it right Wade,

Hi, Wade, you're right about the money, but it is mid April already. I understand there is some money left over BUT they still have the spring maintenance and summer moth balling for the machines and need to fill the fuel tanks while the fuel rates are still down and THEN hold a little back. The Area 43 Advisory Committee with the State's encouragement decided to stop grooming and hold over some money this year or suffer the consequence next year. Why? The program runs a year in arrears, next years spending is from this years allocations from the state from the fuel tax credit and the snowmobile stickers returns and the State has told us to expect a lot less. These funds are the lions share of the operation.

The LOT (local option tax) money is from taxes on motel rooms in the City of McCall, and the Adopt-a-trail money is donations from the McCall area local merchants and supporters and again we all know they are really hurting this year. These funds are spent in the year they accrue. They are applied for thru the local snowmobile club. We expect a lot less next year unless the economy comes back very, very fast. (Not expected!!!) I think all this information is true, at least my best guess.

If they didn't hold some carryover to supplement next year, and IF we have a good snow year they could run out of money by the end of February and then everyone would be upset, including me. :o

The groomer program people did an excellent job again this year keeping the trails in great shape, and we want to see that next year.:D:D:D

Whoever runs your grooming program has it dialed good.

Sorry, just hate to see it shut down, when there's still riding to do.

I assumed with the number of people I've seen riding this year, money is going to be tight next year.

It's really too bad, that we only get 1/2 our snowmobile gas tax refund back, and the skiers steal another half of that. If we got all our gas tax refund back, we'd have plenty of money to go do whatever we wanted. I'd be real surprised if any business in McCall can afford to give away money next year. It's been tough all around.
