Mbrp can on pro

Friend installed one on his PRO last week. Doesn't appear to be as loud as the HPS that my other friend just installed (I'm still running stock can :face-icon-small-hap).

MBRP seems to have a nice braaaap when out of the snow or when opened up, just not as loud as the HPS...at least when idling. I've only heard the HPS at idle as he just installed it. Got a chance to hear it when he was putting it back in garage after recent trip. The two buddies just got back from Cooke and they both agreed that the HPS is significantly louder.

BTW, I've heard MBRP is back ordered 6-8 weeks. HPS is easier to get from what I understand.

I just went through this whole schmazle trying to find a can
for what its worth, MBRP claims 1-2HP increase on both the 800 and 600
but cant find them anywhere

HPS seems to be the can of choice for the 800 after a bunch of reading anf IF you order right from them, they can get it out quicker than through your local parts guys
i didnt go this way as i had to alter my mid pipe and cut some of the aluminum shroud off, and i didnt want to do this (this is only for the 600, not the 800)

I have always had MBRP on my sleds and liked them,,,,decent enough can

I went w the SPI (strightline performance inc) on my 600
its the same can used on the 800 and Jason there mentioned they had awesome results w it on the 800
said he saw some increase in RPM's and maybe a horse or two (again, debatable)
plus its ceramic coated, which helps retain heat in the pipe, which you want
super clean install and fit and finish is wicked
and I like having something different than everyone else

price point was godo too, retail is $299, I got it for $219

not trying to talk you out of an MBRP, but just another options for you maybe??

heres a pic of it installed on my sled, it would look the same as yours

How s the SPI can for loudness and weight savings?

spose to drop 5-6 lbs off stock
the can on my 600 weighed 11.8lbs and this one weighed 5.6lbs
not the smallest or lightest can, but my experice is the smaller the can, the louder...and i didnt want a SUPER LOUD can
more weight savings and a different sound more than anything

i havent fired it up since i put it on yet, as my hood is off getting a wrap installed
and i havent broke in my sled yet, so im waiting starting it up too much until i can break it in proper

a buddy of mine has it on his 600 and he said it sounds really throaty
like a 4 stoke kind of....he said he giggled a bit, cause it made his 600 sound pretty "meaty"...if that makes sense!! LOL!

i think similar to an HPS from what i head read on the boards here

I'm running the MBRP on my 2012 800. I went for it since it was much quieter to everything I heard out there. I've never heard anything bad about MBRP cans either, had it on a sled on in the past.

HPS will lose a few more lbs though, I just don't like how loud it is.

I have run an MBRP for about 500 miles, noticed that after the installation, the odd time I will get a DET error. Seems it leaned it out just enough to cause a hick up now and then

something to consider

Do you loose or gain rpm? I heard hps you will loose rpm. A aftermarket can isn't worth it to me if you loose horsepower to gain a differnt sound. I am interested to know if the mbrp actually has a hp gain. Has anybody ride above 10k with the mbrp can?

Have you tried throwing on the stock can to see if it still has DET codes? Just curious why you've narrowed the DET codes to the can. I would expect that maybe you would start to see DET codes right after putting the MBRP can on?

On a side note guys, don't buy a can for claimed HP gains, even the weight loss is minimal on the Pro RMK. I bought a can for the nice crisp sound and the room gained in the engine compartment, 4lb weight loss was a little bonus.

I rode with an MBRP can on my 2011 800 Pro-RMK last year for the entire season with no issues, including several rides above 10k.

The MBRP is a trail can (vs their 'Race' can in earlier chassis) so it's not super loud and has a nice sound to it. If you're looking for loud get the HPS.

MBRP

I saw a 150rpm gain when I installed mine. I was the only one that was running a can in my group of PROS. I have had no issues with the can or the sled for that matter. My sled by far ran the best. Completely stock minus the can.

I bought one for my 2012 as well.

I bought mine at
www.rockymountainsnowmobile.com

not a bad looking can, looks like there $259.99 at the link above^^^^free shipping or you can drive to Orem and pick it up. I wonder what N.S. would charge you for the can?? I will let you buy it and try it before I spend my money:face-icon-small-ton

I put one on my 2012 but have not had a chance to try it out yet, just revving it in the garage it has a nice performance sound compared to the stocker, but it is not near as loud as my IQ HPS was which is a good thing IMO.

I had just the opposite experience with my HPS can. I gained rpm's and had to add weight. It ran very well for me. And I didn't at all think it was too loud. Nice sound without being obnoxious. I kept it and got one of Brad's 13.6 heads to put on one this year

Thanks for the info daniel boondocker, what elevation do you ride at? Thinking about running the pa head with the hps can and just want reliable info at high elevation. Also how much weight did you add?

ride with two pros who run the mbrp. Both sleds run great and have no runnability issues. No loss in RPM. Not sure if there was a gain as they were both installed from new. They have a nice sound. Not too loud but a noticeable difference above stock. At the dealer I work at Mbrp is all we stock and install on sleds. Have never had anyone complaim or have issues with them. The have all fit great too.

hey Chris

was chatting w a buddy today who's dad has a 2012 Pro 800
his MBRP can was tossing codes up
took it into the dealer and they fired it up w the stocker back on.....no codes....

maybe an isolated case?? but just wanted to share w you
seems like most are ok w this can

Chris I know its not these brands but I heard slp has a good rap and my dealer said of all their pros the slp has no rpm loss and has a decent sound. I am about ready to put a order in tomorrow. This is not a sales ad but I can get em for 200 shipped
