Just took it... Everyone needs to do this!

The opposition isn't too lazy to...

Eddy thanks, I took the time to take the survey, however the meeting on this has already taken place. They held the meeting on the 24th at the Monroe Library from 1:30-3:30 in the afternoon. :face-icon-small-sad Doesn't mean that we shouldn't still be involved, take the survey, let them know what you think.:mmph:

Added my typical rant :)

It may be the goal, but the current FS plan has been to pit the populist against the small user groups; and user groups against each other. It is possible to better protect the environment while allowing more access all while reducing the use conflicts. One of the major errors when designating Wilderness was the blanket coverage rather than specifically focused to protect specific types of habitat and process. This has severely, massively, and astronomically constrained access for various uses and user groups. It has led to law breaking and really a lot of wasted time. All the while it has missed opportunities to protect specific areas of ecological significance that are culturally and regionally important. At this point I think that the goal is to upset and harass people in minority use groups or of different views. My mother worked for the FS for 37 years and I have worked in the environmental sciences for over 10 years. I know that generally the idea of wilderness is a good thing and people thought they were doing the right thing. Unfortunately politics are involved and there has been short sighted or unwillingness to really think about the needs and opportunities for a more well-rounded plan to managing our lands. Here ya go... there is very limited alpine area access for all users while much of the most critical parts of watersheds are out of the blanket protection areas all together. Be open with the public about need such as the need and cost of implementing BMPs and necessary upgrades needed. Allow for volunteering, even some of the heavy lifting, a lot of the user groups would then be able to develop that base and support. There is no way we can afford to maintain our road with the current or foreseeable political and fiscal climate. put it to the users that see it as important, cultural and spiritual to get involved and streamline the processes for action and management. But I know how it is going to go... good luck with just trying to spite, harass, and degrade the quality of life of those who you presume to not have your same views, background, or values.
