Mayoral candidate wants to disarm the cops.

Fact is, the cops out way out of control in general. It is the publics fault for abdicating so many rights to these clowns in the first place. WHY ON EARTH would you give a bunch of power to a guy with only 15 weeks of training, maybe six months to be a state cop. In this time it seems, you become and expert driver, expert marksman, psychologist, lawyer and all around expert on people.

Then we make so many stupid rules to try and make life safer, which is pretty much impossible to legislate. You end up with everybody in society in violation of a law at some point making us all criminals. This is a very dangerous road to go down.

I think we could EASILY get by with 60% less law enforcement. People need to go back to dealing with each other and not needing the cops. Cops need to give up on the traffic safety lies they tell and enforce with monetary fines. They are bad tax collectors at best.

I have NEVER needed a cop, NEVER. Think about it, are they really making your life better? because you are paying for it....

I have never called the fire department but I am glad they are here.
Its a waste to talk to RED MTN about things of this sort, (kinda hard headed individual) but to each his own

Billions in equipment and manpower that goes essentially unused for years at a time. Besides that you are often putting faith in a group of utter bozos, like trusting a cop with safety. Doesn't always work out as promised. Could that be possible in a government run program?

People feed on fear. We have been duped into WAY more "safety" than could ever be necessary.

Given this thought process do you ride in the mountains without a probe or beacon?

First of all, NEVER is a long time. Maybe you NEVER needed a cop is because they are doing a good job keeping you safe? Are there bad cops? Of course. But there are bad politicians, pastors, snowmobilers, hunters, plumbers, etc. I like to believe most people are good people. Maybe I am delusional. :face-icon-small-win

Could turn into a real life Demolition man movie.Let me guess- this candidate must be a democrat? Just more proof that the two party system has and will continue to destroy America. I believe most law enforcement are ego induced control freaks that in many cases want to entice anger from a person so they can get off on being the big man behind a shield on their lapel by controlling another person. Been up against that many times. But there are a remote few that actually do the job they was hired to do- preserve and protect. Taking lethal force away from these law officers is extremely stupid and will prove to be so if it happens.

This is it in a nutshell.

Here's a fact, people make mistakes.
Law enforcement is placed in life and death circumstances on a regular basis. So when they make a mistake, it often means that they die or a citizen dies. That's a pretty heavy reality that most of us couldn't handle or at least haven't chosen to handle.

I love the idea of the public doing more policing ourselves, but that ain't gonna happen. Each generation that passes, people get softer, and frankly, the common man simply ain't man enough to take care of matters himself.

And when someone does, it's national news demonizing him. An entire race goes on the rampage, rioting and looting. And said man's fate is in the hands of 12 people that weren't witty enough to get out of jury duty.

Living in a rural area means the cops spend more time driving around writing speeding tickets than ANY other activity. That isn't keeping ANYBODY safe contrary to the mantra they spew. They spend more time harassing people than serving and protecting. 99% of them are pricks on power trips, end of story.

Yes, I think you are delusional. Moving out of Minnesota would help, I know it saved me 20 years ago...

Please substantiate that claim with some statistics. I do not think their job is the least bit dangerous MOST of the time. Once in a blue moon they may run across something actually dangerous but I think most of it is hype, propoganda to justify their existence, which is almost completely unnecessary.

When you are unable to take care of yourself, natural selection comes along and takes care of it for you. This is nature at its finest, culling the herd. We need to do a LOT more of this as overpopulation becomes an issue. Quit trying to save everybody, it is a bad plan.

The bottom line is, cops do not make your life better. It is a lie and a sad joke that so many of you have bought into. There is nothing special about them, their lives matter no mare than the next. Most are a$$ clowns with little man complexes and I have never had any time for that crap, NEVER will, no matter how long NEVER turns out to be.
