Martial Law question ...

Funny, I just came in here to post this article below and found this thread. Army Nat'l Guard was planning a military exercise ("mock invasion") going into people's homes door-to-door (with consent for now) to search for a suspected "weapons dealer." Plans are still continuing, but they're trying to "gain the people's trust" first.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Following publicized reports that the Army National Guard was planning a military training exercise on the streets of a rural Iowa town, the commanding officers have called off [postponed actually] the mock "invasion."

The Guard had planned a four-day urban military operation in tiny Arcadia, Iowa, population 443, sending troops to take over the town and search door-to-door for a suspected weapons dealer.

The exercise was designed as a mock scenario to give soldiers the skills needed for deployment in an urban environment, and military officials stressed that only households that consented to be part of the drill would be searched.

"It will be important for us to gain the trust and confidence of the residents of Arcadia," Sgt. Mike Kots, readiness NCO for Alpha Company, told Carroll's Daily Times Herald. "We will need to identify individuals that are willing to assist us in training by allowing us to search their homes and vehicles and to participate in role-playing.

"We really want to get as much information out there as possible," Kots continued, "because this operation could be pretty intrusive to the people of Arcadia."

Military spokesman Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, however, told WND that the operation has now been "scaled back" and no longer involves an "invasion" of Arcadia.

And while Hapgood confirmed the Guard had been inundated with objections from citizens concerned about soldiers patrolling the streets of an American town, he said most came from people out of state and unfamiliar with the operation. Iowans, he explained, typically cooperate with the Guard. The change in plans was based on troop evaluation, he said, not public outcry.

"Higher headquarters leadership," Hapgood told WND, "given the unit's status of training proficiency, made a decision to scale back the exercise."

Kots described the original operation to the Herald as set to begin on Thursday, April 2, with reconnaissance and exploratory patrols. On April 4 convoys were to be deployed from the armory in Carroll to nearby Arcadia, where soldiers would knock on doors, showing a picture of the invented "arms dealer."

"Once credible intelligence has been gathered," said Kots, "portions of the town will be road-blocked and more in-depth searches of homes and vehicles will be conducted in accordance with the residents' wishes.

"One of the techniques we use in today's political environment is cordon and knock," Kots explained. "We ask for the head of the household, get permission to search, then have them open doors and cupboards. The homeowner maintains control. We peer over their shoulder, and the soldier uses the homeowner's body language and position to protect him."

The planned drill had also included overhead supervision from a Blackhawk helicopter, crowd-control measures and simulated extraction of "injured" people, culminating in capture of the "arms dealer."

"This exercise will improve the real-life operational skills of the unit," said Kots. "And it will hopefully improve the public's understanding of military operations."

"There are no active duty bases in Iowa, so there are no urban warfare training areas of any size," Hopgood said. "In order to get that larger neighborhood feel or city feel, we have to be creative and partner with our communities."

Hopgood further told WND that in past cooperative exercises with the community, the people of Iowa have welcomed learning how their sons and daughters operate in action.

Plans for the urban operation training, Hopgood explained, are still set to continue, but will be conducted in a smaller, platoon-by-platoon basis in the near vicinity of the Carroll armory.

Here's a little bit of no chit for ya.

there are plans already in place for what is called "civil unrest".
Plans have been sent out as to what federal police, national guard and military units should do in the case of mass civil unrest.

The angle they take is in case there is SO much unemployment that people just start taking to the streets and killing each other over such things as food and stuff like that.

The fact is, politicians are truly terrified of an armed uprising.
The above mentioned exercise is so they can practice search and seizure exercises to confiscate weapons and munitions.

No joke.
I have seen the information.

Always thought the BACKWARD barbed wire racks on top of these huge fenced in areas in Auburn were kinda weird.

His majesty declares an emergency and suspends habeas corpus anything can happen. Last time that happened was during the civil war and President Lincon was the one who suspended rights. Interesting that Obama sees himself in that vain. Our state will fall quickly, with the kotex krew in charge they will follow whatever Obama and Biden tell them to, much to the dismay of many.
Alaska is looking better all the time. With a leader like Palin.. I do beleive she would tell Obama to stick it. Sure wish I had a few acres up there.

huh, guess I need to rewatch Red Dawn.

It would be interesting to see how many/which cops and troops would actually march on fellow citizens and search their friends and families homes....

hope we never get to find out.

How about we citizens plan a mock attack on the local national guard armory just to see how they react???? Oh, we are just getting ready for whatever, no need to worry........:p:p:p

I hear our govt. has been massing foreign troops here in the US to handle the occupation because there is no way US troops will fire on US citizens.

Reverse bard wire location you mention is alleged FEMA camp for people who don't cooperate with Martial Law.

That article on "Training Exercise" is a perfect example ... I need to learn more about 1930's Europe ... how they did it then.

I am sitting here reading this and my daughter is sitting in her chair reading a book. She is just visiting for a couple days. She is a Deputy Sheriff for a large county in Colorado. I just asked her if her department has talked about any of this or the possibility of handling a civil unrest situation. She said, NO.

All the years we have been chatting and you still wonder what my political views are??

I own a small arsenal for a reason.

never question that ..its when you are "IN" so to speak ...what does a guy do??? conform and help to round up family and friends or take a stand with us ??

Heres a news flash.
Most of the people in uniform won't lift a finger to enforce it.
Rounding up of guns is something the dems would love to do. They can't and they know it.
They have a lot of PR work to do first. it will take YEARS even with the presses help to turn public opinion enough to even start to look at it. They could get away with it in some states already, such as california, florida and such. But they know it would be war in the central states.

Hey wait a sec.
What's this "us" stuff about.
You gonna come down from Canada and help out?
Thought they already took most of your gun rights away?
