Mammoth Lakes -- Where to park, where to ride?

With this storm looking to dump five feet or so on Mammoth, I'm thinking it could be a good place to go the weekend after Thanksgiving. I did some googling and found this map:

It shows some play areas to the east of 395 a few miles north of Mammoth Lakes itself. I googled some more... there are no snowmobile dealers in the area, and the only rental place that came up has a website out of the mid 1990's.

So... has anybody here ridden the area? Is it worth going to? If so, where's the best place to park and places to ride? The trail map is a good start, but I'd love to find some first-hand info on the area.

Thank you!

Mammoth is pretty limited to the lower elevations, and the east side of 395 is rolling terrain in the trees, with SxS roads everywhere. I know it well in the summer but have never bothered in the winter - seems good for the occasional day or two, but it could get boring. If it opens, Sonora Pass (BWRA) will probably have more snow because of higher elevation, and more interesting terrain.

It does look a little limited on the maps but could be fine for a day or two. Sonora won't open until after Dec 7th. I can't argue with the requirement of two feet of snow at the 108/Leavitt Lake junction, but after Dec 7th is total BS.

June lake junction is a good starting point if snow coverage is good you can access the mono craters from their on a good day , major blast to ride these . Seriously doubt any trails will be done and you can get in trouble on the west side pretty fast , lots of wilderness b.s. dotted throughout that side and they do or used to over fly it on clear days (inside Info from wife retired F.s.rec officer from their ) have riden their a bunch but it has been 8-9 years so things may have changed a little good luck and be safe .

Oh and June lake jct keeps you outta the rat race in Mammoth proper kinda half way between Lee vinning and Mammoth, usually not a lot of peeps from that parking lot 😎😎
