Making it fun for her

I built myself a very radical mod 08 TNT longtrack that is only about 450 lbs full wet. It makes my wifes 05 rev 550 fan feel so heavy I can't hardly believe it. So will be going into the dealer to snow check a 09 TNT for my wife with electric start. Hers will be basically stock except for a StraightLine Pipe/Can and medium windshield, handlebar riser, and of course longtracking with a 16 X 137 X 1.75 track. Her sled should be about 435 lbs dry, or about 20 lbs lighter than the fan she rode without elctric start. Light really makes a difference!!! Down the road would like to add the TimberSled rear suspension to hers for another 10 to 15 lbs weight loss.

Most people will scoff at the small track I'm using but mine has same flotation (lbs per square in. of track on snow) as 154 X and my wifes should be close to the 146. Would be nice if Camo would get it together and make a 16 X 137 X 2, they'd sell a bunch to the Renegade guys for sure.

I have been attempting to build a under 400 lb mtn sled with over 100 HP for about 15 years, the XP TNT platform finally made it possible to do for around 10 grand.

Good Luck

Get the right sled for your wife

Great post! My wife has been riding for years and quite frankly until I got her a brand new 2006 M7 153 she really didn't get aggressive enough to get any better. She now rides better than some of the guys in the group. I put a riser on her sled and it really has made a huge difference in her carving turns and uphill climbs through the trees. She doesn't get much trail time anymore which makes me very happy. She always starts her own sled after I get it out of the trailer and warmed up. No starting problems there and she is also fully outfitted with Klim gear. Light and waterproof so she stays warm.

We had done the hand me down sleds in the past it just doesn't seem to work. I would recommend an M7 for the ladies. Easy to start and easy to get unstuck :D My back was killing me when she was riding the older stuff. She nicknamed one of her sleds "Digger" cause it was always really stuck. She now is asking me when we are going. Good luck with your decision lots of good advice on this thread.

A good sled makes such a big difference. Last year I rode my boyfriends 06 Polaris 900. I did make it in deep powder, but it worked me over. Poor suspension and steering and I rolled that sled all the time. Now I have a 07 SkiDoo 600 and I love it. I have no problems starting it even when I'm wore out. It does great and is so light and easy to handle. I can't always get unstuck myself, but I can usually dig it out if I have to without help. It also gets really good gas mileage and doesn't use much oil.

if you teach them right, you can dang near take them anywhere. Luckily i had my dad to help teach. She would listen to him, but not me. lol

e-start, long track and lots of days that you wished you where with your buds. i have roughly 10 years into teaching my wife. The first 4 years where extremely tough. Now, different story.

I have taken my wife all over, eagles pass, on top of turbo hill, standard basin cabin to name a few in the revy area.

if you can, put the brightest, easiest to see helmet on your wife you can. She will love you when you spot the helmet and come over and help. Many times i go looking for the red helmet. very easy to see. She won't let me put a blaze orange helmet on her though.
