MAJOR avy at LION's HEAD

This large slide in the Lionhead area near West Yellowstone broke 4-6' deep and deposited a large debris pile in the run-out zone. It's unclear if it failed naturally form a cornice fall or if it was snowmobile triggered. Either way, it's a clear reminder that large avalanches remain possible in the mountains near West Yellowstone.

Rode by that yesterday afternoon. Crazy how big it was.

That area is known to slide have seen it many times.

Right pass lionshead ridge. I have a picture of it from when my son and I were out there. It was there already on the afternoon of the 18th when we rode up there.
