There was a post on the old forum about lots of applications from the boat/airline industries. I have a new trailer with lots of polished aluminum and stainless. I want to coat it with somthing before it gets ruined. I had my last trailer sprayed with clearcoat and it seemed to work well.

Any help, links, or comments would be appreciated.

I found alumaclear.com..used in commercial trucking industry, tanks, etc.

anybody use it, sounds like a spray on application?

The only thing I've found to work is a frequent washings and polishings. Once it starts pitting and rusting you're screwed. Don't let it build up at all if you can help it.

Sharkhide protection for aluminum

Hey there Rocky,
My name is Clint, and I own the company that produces Sharkhide Metal Protectant. I joined this forum so I could answer any questions you guys may have about Sharkhide.
Sharkhide will without a doubt protect your equipment from Mag Chloride as well as salt spray from the roads. We not only use it on the aluminum tunnels and suspentions on the sleds, but the aluminum trailers as well.
So if any one has any questions about Sharkhide, just fire away and I'll be glad to help.
And to Arctic Thunder, tell your brother thanks from me and my family. It tickles us to death to know that our customers are pleased with our products.
Bye for now,
Clint

Clint,

Thanks for the reply, it looks like just what I'm looking for.

How would it be best to get ahold of you, as I need to get this done asap.

Thanks.

I had a nice talk with Clint this morning. Sounds like a great product. I ordered up several quarts. We're going to use it on all our treadbrite, chrome, aluminum trim on our trailers etc. Also, he said it really works well on polished tunnels.

I will let everyone know how it turns out. We all need something to keep our sleds and trailers looking nice. This mag will absolutely trash a new trailer in 6 months. They use it heavily on the mountain passes here in Colorado.

Sharkhide

Does this work on chrome products as well??

H20SKE...

Hey H20SHE,
Chrome by nature shouldn't stain or discolor on you. But to answer your question, Sharkhide does adhere to chrome and will offer the same protection from the elements as it would on aluminum. We've used Sharkhide in the past to seal rust spots that start when chrome gets chiped.
Hope I answered your question for you.

I have only seen it in quart sizes...which is over kill for a tunnel or two...any smaller quantities?

Hey MTdream,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
I actually just got done having some Sharkhide Metal protectant put in spray cans. I don't have labels done yet, but if interested let me know and I can fix you up.

SHARKHIDE Metal Protectant

Hey there BigRed,
No, Sharkhide isn't for aluminum only. You can actually use it on any type of metal at all. It's just that with aluminum, you notice the benefits all most at once. But we also use it on steel as well to prevent rust. There's no special prep at all other than it be clean and dry with no waxes or oils present.
And we do use it on painted surfaces too. We coat old campers and Rv's. When they get old and chaiky, a couple of coats of sharkhide and they look wet and shiny. And no more chalk comes off when you touch them.
Sign painters have used it as a primer coat on aluminum so they can paint on it without their work popping off later.
I hope this answers your questions.
Clint
