mag bearings

Took apart a friends 2000 MXZ 700 with 5600 miles and was thinking the mag bearings seamed a little dry. We added a little oil to them and they quieted down and seam to roll fine.

Arent these oiled by the oil pump?
Has anyone had or know if any problems with them?

I thought the outside PTO bearing was the one to be concerned with.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Uh, I hate to tell you this but the 2 outer bearings on both sides are only lubricated by the grease that the factory packs in them. In a brilliant move supposedly to meet emissions standards Bombardier decided to quit lubing these bearings with injection oil and just let them run forever lubed by a small amount of expensive grease called Isoflex. Over time and many heat and cooling cycles this grease dissolves leaving the bearings to run dry which has led to Bombardier selling untold engines, cranks and bearings for the series 3 engines since they were introduced in 1999 (600, 600HO, 700, 800, 800HO, etc.). Because I own 3 sleds that have these motors I have spent countless hours reading on the internet about various supposed fixes of which none seem to be bulletproof. I have added grease to the pto bearings on my 700 and 800HO through the vent nipple behind the clutch but I have not yet attempted to add grease to the mag side by removing the flywheel and stator and pushing Isoflex through the lower stator mount screw hole. I guess the only right way to do this is to disassemble the engine and pack the bearings (sounds like working on a model T ford). Somehow I do not think I should have to disassemble an engine every 3000-5000 miles to pack crank bearings (so much for progress), when my 15 year old Summit 670 is still running on the original crank and bearings with no maintenance other than fresh pistons 2 years ago. Some people have gone as far as to drill their engine blocks so that injection oil can drip into the bearings like it was intended but no one knows for sure how to adjust the oil pump to account for this and I would wonder where the oil would go from there since these bearings are sealed from the crankcase leaving the oil no way to be pulled through with the fuel. If you need Isoflex for your bearings search for it on ebay or it can be purchased from the manufacturer for much less that Skidoo charges. I have bought several grease gun size tubes on ebay for less than what Skidoo gets for a little squeeze tube. As you might have noticed this is a real sore spot with me so excuse the rant and carry on. If anyone else has some suggestions on this topic please feel free to jump in.
 
The only bearing packed with iso upon disassembly was the end pto bearing.

That is the only bearing calling for iso for a rebuild. one would think it would be called out for the others as well if they were supposed to have it?
