m8t not starting due to no fuel pressure...capasator dead?

hey all ,

new to the turbo sleds and have a 09 with a twisted kit...and the sled is not starting until i put a 9volt battery to the capasator...

does this mean the capasator is dead? whats a good upgrade from the stock one?

going to put some leads on the capasator so i can start it with the 9volt till i can get thge right one...

what do you guys think it is>?

whats the fuel pressure get up to when you're pulling the rope?

stock pump?

did you do the shim thing on the stock fuel pump regulator?

any miles on this kit? how many on the stock sled?

another thing:

- the sled will only send maybe 5-9ish volts when you are pulling the rope, its a fast flash (for lack of a better term) of 7 volts and can be seen with a voltmeter

Hey Hatchers, you running your fuel pump on the lighting coil or the stock fuel pump circuit? I am running the lighting coil and don't seem to have the problems some guys talk about with starting. I only have two rides on this thing but my lighting coil seems to be getting the job done. I did have one time that it wouldn't start but a little fuel in the airbox got her started. Now I just let it idle for half a minute to load up some fuel and no problems. Should I expect to see a hard start problem before it's all over?

it starts when there is fuel pressure showing on the gauge, but if i leave it a couple of days and it goes to zero, it will not build any fuel pressure till i put the 9v battey to the capasator...

1200 miles on the sled, boosted from day 1...bought the sled used and am trying to fix it before i ride it...thanks alot guys

Something we have justed discovered is the fuel pump plug is junk. I have had m 7's that were shut down, only to never restart again untill waiting for a (time out) however after a buddy replaced his fuel pump only to have it not restart after 10 miles on the new fuel pump,He has figured out its the cheap (small) fuel pump plug that is being overburdened. After returning home they found a 12 volt battery would spin up the pump AND the stator was putting out good voltage but would not build pressure when the plug was used. And after cutting the plug out and wiring it direct it run's fine. My sons sled would not resart this weekend and after removing and repluging plug numoris times it restarted and I packed it with dielectric grease and it has not missed a beat since. I believe this plug not being sealed and exposed to wet and dry conditions, coupled with the overdraw of voltage that IMO this plug is not designed for, builds carbon that will conduct electricity when cold but after warming up will not start pump from the low rope pull voltage untill it cools. Fact or fiction my M sleds will either be getting a sealed plug or just hard wired together.
Hope this helps some....Garry
