M8 vs D8, what to buy

Zero question.........none, nada, zilch, the big goose egg!!!

CAT!!!! & Only CAT.

You'll love the dark side....................:D

What type of riding will you be doing?

and to help with your decision...get a nice shiny coin and flip it! ;) thats pretty much what I did....:D

I ride a 1000 King Cat w/ Chall-Extreme but.........

Because of avy danger last Jan. I took my wife's '09 M-8 Sno-Pro to IP. I would have taken both, but I ride with a lot of Doo guys and when they blow their motors they feel the need to borrow any extra sleds. So , I rode the M-8. 50 miles on the odometer, It ran great. There was nothing this sled couldn't do. It spanked the XPs and ran a close second to my buddies M-1000. He said the 8 would have beat him, but he had put on a Powder Claw just before the trip.
One day we were climbing on Feather Ridge and a group of three sleds came. I just watched as they attacked the hill. None of them had came close to my marks. RT, D-8 and XRS. I never showed them, but they must have know those were my marks. My friend on his XP sure was surprized. I said you better stay away from the M-8 as the chip is going to burn out soon. He said ''Realy".

Owen, you must be referring to the "break in chip"? That's a good one! The Doo guys would surely fall for that one.

My 09 M8 will have the undetectable SLP Performance Edition package next season. It will still look like I just have a SLP pipe on my sled. I can hardly wait to tell folks

"this is an 09 M8, the 2010 models are really something, they have another 10-15 more horsepower than mine, you had better keep a watchful eye out for them". :beer;

Seriously, I like the color scheme slightly better on the 09 Sno Pro. I also like the looks of my highrise Boss seat slightly better than the 2010 seats but, those are about the only noteworthy differences other then the ENGINE. The engine changes alone (maybe the seat a little bit) are driving lust for 2010 M8.

I am really partial to the 2010 as well, will be a quick revvin engine, also have heard from my local cat dealer that the crank is exactly the same as the reliable 2009, just shaved weight off of the counter weights, he told me that people are wrong thinking that this crank might be weaker, he figures if anything it will be stronger, less rotating mass.
lookin forward to it!

Man I really am thinking about a 2010 M8 HCR. These 2010's sound like they really rip.

The final culmination of the M chassis is here. (Took long enough.)

Anyone looking for a cheap 2005 M7?

id go with the m8 my stocker 07 m8 153 hangs with any sled the chassis is perfect i could ask more out of the engine but with the new 800 H.O. it should rip and besides polaris have alot of engine problems

im a full on cat guy but that that assault looks like a mean sled. could be worth it to try that beast

I ride a D-8 but have ridden both an 09 M-8 and the assaut...the asault is a riot unless you have 3-4 ft of fresh....the M-8 performed better in some snow conditions then my D-8(stock track) but mine did better in some as well..(the dragon track sucks for most snow conditions..the 2.5 extreme totally changes how the D-8 performs in all conditions...and from what I have seen on my buddies sled with the extreme the D-8 will do as good if not better in all conditions as the M-8 just with the track change)

do they make a track besides the 162??? seems silly to run a short track, 153, on a mountain sled:)
