M8 SnoPro 2008 or 2009

I was all set to buy 09 M8, but deal fell thru. Now I have four other options 2008 M8 SnoPro 153 for $7500 or 2009 M8 SnoPro 162 for $8800. Also 2008 M8 standard 153 for $6900 or 2008 M1000 162 for $7300. All are brand new. Are there any issues with one model over the other or a nagging problems with one model? I was leaning more towards the 09 M8 SnoPro, but are there $1300 worth of improvements over the 08 SnoPro. I will probably only get out west a couple weeks a year. Mostly just boondocking not so much highmarking. Will be putting on pipe, venting, clutching, skis and Boss seat. Any ideas on best sled to buy would be very helpful.

Wow, that's a tough one. You sure are buying at the right time of the year though. There are deals galore out there right now.

You may be at the point where it comes down to the dealer.

Who's the closest?
Who stocks the most commonly used parts?
Who is going to take care of you the best when a warranty item fails?
What dealer is absolutely bending over backward to sell you a sled AND will be there once you take delivery?

Answer those questions and I think you'll have your answer.

There are no bad choices of the sleds you listed.

Good Luck

I would buy the 09 for the simple reason it has the electronic reverse instead of the gearcase reverse. Less things to break and LIGHTER weight. I think you will be happier in the long run....Garry

09'

I have ridden both sleds and the 09' just doesn't even feel like the same sled. by the time you try to put the money into the 08' you will have spent the 1300 or at least be really close and then you have a mod sled. Stock is easier to sell later. And as mentioned above the reverse is not the mechanical DD version on the 09.

I don't know where you are from but if your in the usa Rexburg motorsports in idaho was advertising 2010 M8 startiing at $8499 I would think this will be way better of a sled than a 09 just because of the power they are claiming over 160hp

I'm in Wisconsin that would be a little bit of a drive. I've got a price of $9800 for M8 SnoPro 153, but I'd rather let some else do the testing on the new one. The '09 does sound like it has proven it self.

The 09 has the track and engine reverse. Two important upgrades. The power on the 09 just seems to work better as well. Stock for stock, there is a big difference. The 162 track issue may be of bigger concern if you are running the thing on trails though.

Ok I agree too, buy the 09 M8 153".

You may even want a HCR if can stomach all that green and you can find one. The wider front end would be great for your area. The harder durometer track also wouldn't hurt.

This sled will probably never see Wisconsin except on a trailer. I've got my Nytro XTX for home.

rode all day today. My 09 m8 snopro along with numerous 07 and 08 m8 and m1000 . Mine stock just works awsome. lighter, better looking, I would do the 09

Curious to those that say the '09 is 'way better'. Engine reverse which saves a few pounds, the rear running boards, and the telescoping bars. What else is different? Engine same, chassis same, clutching same, suspension same, little bit of weight (has to be very little) out of the rear skid. Telescoping bars you can easily buy the parts and change in under an hour (as I did on my '08). 2 wheel kit under $20 and you have some of the rear skid back. With some of the prices I have seen, the few pounds from reverse and the running boards just don't seem like enough to pay the extra $$$. SLP single will get most of the weight difference and more power and still be well cheaper.

I'm just as biased as everyone else (those with '08 say '08 and those with '09 say '09) but I had the same dilema and went '08 because to me the reverse was the biggest deal but not enough to justify the price increase.
