M8 Rubber Pipe Rest Keeps Falling of. What gives?

The rubber bumper that hold the pipe up on the clutch side keeps coming off. The rivets keep failing, and off it comes. I have been using aluminum 3/16th pop rivets to reinstall it, but it seems to fall of in about 1 ride, and ends up down by the clutches each time. Not good. What is the deal? Do I need some special rivets? What would be a more reliable way to remount this piece so it will stop falling off.

Rivet

Have you thought about using a Steel/Steel rivet. You must be getting some vibration that just eats the aluminum rivet up. steel steel is a steel rivet and steel nail.you can use an air rivet gun,and its lots tighter than by hand. RickM

steel rivets

Can you put steel rivets in that piece? A friend of mine said you cant put steel rivets into an aluminum piece as it will corrode the metal?

Great info!

Thanks! Ill get some steel rivets and go at it. Will I need a air gun to make it work?
