M8 pgt, what gearing to use?

Alright guys, gonna run 6-8 pounds on my 09 m8. I geared it down to 55/65 to help with belt eating issues, wondering if I should stay geared down now, or go back to stock. 153" track, like to play in the trees, climb whatever I can, etc, could care less about lake racing. What's in my best interest, gonna service the DD this week so it's a good time to take care of it!
Thanks, Brian

I liked 55/65 on my 09 running 7.5 lbs. The M sleds come geared way too high in my opinion. AC has to make them work in 600ft Minnesota as well at 10000ft out west. Hence the compromise gearing they come with.

You can only go about 80 with the stock gearing anyways. Compared to every other manufacture the cats are super low geared to begin with. Why gear down? I have an 09 with a 162 track running the stock gearing at 6-9 psi with no problems.

Why? Origionally because inwas tired of buying belts every 100 miles. The only time I'm ever on a lake is when I'm eyeing up stupid little climbs, so big mph isn't a concern to me unless it will have negative effects to the performance being boosted.

My top was closer to 90-92 with the stock 57/63 gearing.

The reasons I gear down is way better slow speed control and a lot less belt heat and wear issues. Don't knock until you try it. It's the best mod you can make on most mountain sleds.

I think you will like the gearing you have in there. It worked well for me in a M8 PG turbo. Did gearing down cure your belt problems? I have read an occasional thread about M8 belt issues, but I have never seen them be hard on belts. My turbo M8 never blew on in almost 800 miles.

If your having belt issues it's most likely due to alignment. My 09 M8 with stock 57/63 gears is fine on belts, no issues while running 9 psi boost.

Dealer had it twice to check alignment, deflection is always kept up, etc. My buddys twin sled same thing. I never blew the belts, just pulled cords and get scared. Yes gearing it down helped out a fair bit. I still don't see lots of miles without cord pulling, but at least I can get them past break in without seeing fur lol. Some guys didn't have issues, some did, hence the multiple threads 2 years ago with 50+ posts in them haha
Thanks guys, excited to test er out
