I am looking at getting a new sled. I currently ride a 05 King Cat with a few mods (pipe, y pipe, holtz skid, etc). I weigh about 180 and 5'9" tall. Most of the rideing I do is deep powder +4' usally and constant hill climb. The area I live in has no trails it is all cross country. An average hill is a constant flipper to the bar climb for about 800' vertical feet, and is usally a point and shoot run. Not much weaving unless you just want to.Elevation is sea level to 5000'. I have not rode eaither M8 or M1k but would like to here what the pro's and con's are for each. I am leaning more towards the MIk just beacause I love low end torque. Thanks for your opinions.

I live in the Tiekel river valley Alaska, about 45mi out of Valdez alaska. average snow fall is over 300" a year.

If your talking new, Im assuming up to 2010's. In that case, 10' M8. No questions about it. Just got back from Cooke with both my 09 and 10 M8's alongside an M1000 and a couple well set up MC800's getting put to the test on every terrian over several days. The best sled was my 10' M8. Keep in mind 4 of us swapped rides often so the there was no biased comparisions. If your talking 09 or older M8's to the M1000, I would definately go with the M1000. One of the guys with the set up MC800 will be getting a new M8--actually an HCR. Another friend with the M1000 will swap his for a new M8. I am going to swap my 09 for another new M8 or a new leftover m1000 if I find a killer deal on one. Just some real world feedback for you to digest on from our experiences and the result of this latest trip.
