M8 Gearing in M1000

Im gearing down my m1000. What gearing is the preference and what kind of issues with some of your set ups?. Im thinking 56/64. what about 57/63 or 55/65?

I ride 0-3000ft, and I am happy with my 58-62 on a dd-lite. No belt problems with 3x85grms yellow/white spring primary, 42-36 orange spring shift assist secondary, XS817 belt, 153" PC track.

I went with a BDX pro lite with 57/63. Better than stock for me. If I were to do it again I think I'd try 55/65. I don't care about top speed. I want track speed and response. Guess it depends on the riding you'll be doing.

My only concern with gearing down is the belt climcing out of the primary. If I gear it down I might throw a hair more weight to the primary also. 55/65 I would go to 85grms in the primary for sure. I ride 4-7000 ft. Im not a WOT guy on the flats whatsoever I like to climb and boondock, so I need throttle/torque rsponse right now! Speed is a false sense of gratification in my eyes. Control and complete crazy in a nasty spot is where its at.....I prefer a$$pucker so Im heading for gearing.

Well, not sure if the "WOT guy on the flats" was referring to me:D, but here is 0-3000 ft where I ride:

I put the 58/62 gears on mine. Wish I would of keep the 55/65 i put on the wife's M8:(

I run BDX 55/65 gearing in my M1000. I've said it over and over and over.................DO IT!!

You're going to love it with no downside! Top speed shouldn't be a concern......if it was, I would think you would have purchased a F1000.

Agreed! I put in 56/64 in my M1000 and loved it.

X3 and your belt will not come out of the primary... I promise. Also you will probably pick up some track speed whilst climbing.

Ask BOB about his belt blowing apart while WOT coming back to the truck for a tow rope................57/63 I believe on his 1200

Put M8 gears in Idiot! I did climb out of the primary but with 1200 miles on my 046 at WOT on the lake bed it was bound to happen. if you gear down u will not be disappointed!!! Handsome knows, he is not just pretty 2 look @
;)

I know top speed is not a main issue but can you see 70-75mph with lower gears (57/63)? I think that is good top and like to keep it. It's good while driving to the playing areas...

Damn you live really far far away up north :D Even as a finn I have to admit it.
Have you tried even deeper initial angle helix? I have 48/36 helix waiting for snow in my garage. May be too big difference between angles, but I'll give a try.

I have a new back-up secondary from Countrycat, and it has a 46/38 helix on it.
Did not get to try it last season. Planning on bringing both secondaries out to the hills and do some back-to-back testing. But that will not be until october, I can`t get up on the glaciers as of now.

I've "heard" 90 mph with 57/63's. be careful running 85g weights, in most cases under 7,000ft the m1 will pull just about any weight you through at it, and it just slips the belt and creates more engine heat, a few guys i know running that much weight where adding more than +25 on there bd boxes to keep the pyros down, they finally dropped the weight, changed some spring adjustments and the belt started hooking up and then took fuel away to get the egts back up. JUST A WARNING, it may not happen that way.

So, would I slip less with lighter weights and a primary spring with lower finish rate at 0-3000ft?

About engine heat, I run a Speedwerx pipe and y-pipe, with Rk-tek head (13:1) and I am at about +16 wot on the BD box, no problems with egts/AF ratios.

I personally noticed a considerable amount less slippage when i put the weight to my primary and my belt life actually increased. gearing is my next step, and maybe diff fangle helix for climbing.......
I have a pure logic controller but not in use
