m7 midrange

I'm gonna say stock can and get the fuel pressure right. I've never really had a problem, though the '05 map wasn't very good (mine was re-mapped to '06 spec's by AC). But getting the fuel pressure down to 42 psi made a big diff. on top end, and midrange is always crisp. Check your plugs/wash...do they tell you it's rich?

Will add to what Furthur says...perfectly clean well maintained clutches, clutches set up for your type of riding, new or near new belt, proper belt deflection.

the mid is lean on most, I would do what everyone else suggested plus check you oil usage, if you never adjusted your oil pump chances are its getting to much oil., a fuel control box will help you adjust all the different RPM ranges but checking wash is a pain! an EGT would help.....but check your oil first....

ride @8000 to 10000 it has a dd can thats it its my sons sled the clutches look good. has anybody cahaged the helix out ?

Everybody's changed the helix out! Some of us many times! What year and what does it have now ('05's were 36, '06's were 44/40)? If you have a stumble in the midrange, it's not the helix. If it won't back-shift or hold rev's climbing...then it might be the helix.

Put the stock can back on. Check primary weights, make sure they're good for the alt. Screw in secondary adjuster (assuming it's still the stock white spring) about 1/2" from outer end of the clutch. Make sure deflection and belt are good. Check power valves clean and opening ok. Make sure plugs are good. Fill it with fresh, regular grade gas. Make sure oxygenated plug (near ECU by airbox) is plugged in. If it isn't pretty good there, something is wrong with the sled.

what helix do you recommend if it wont backshift mines all stock i ride at 2000ft and then whatever togwotee and west yellowstone is.

I'd say stock helix should be fine, but you need a different secondary spring. Cat orange is best bang for the buck, and throw in a shift assist...$40 and done clutching. Make sure your rollers are round and free-wheeling.

First, make sure it's wrong...if your wash and plugs show rich...get it measured with an accurate gauge. Our local dealer does this free of charge. You can buy kits to mod your in-tank regulator to set it higher or lower. Bikeman has one, and so does OVS, among others. I like mine on the low side of spec, but your's may be different.

John

You have to pull the fuel pump and look at it. I made a housing that looks like the bikeman or ovs, out of aluminum. Threaded a bolt and a lock-nut into the end, just like the bikeman and ovs. Cut the end off the pressure regulator canister, just like the bikeman/ovs, and installed the pressure regulator, with spring, into my housing, which is held on by the bolts that hold the regulator assembly on the unmodified regulator, just like the bikeman/ovs. Re-install the whole assembly in the tank. Then just set your fuel pressure to whatever you want it to be (you can connect the fuel pump to 12v. and set it close before starting the sled). Make sure you don't have a lot of fuel in the tank.

Disclaimer...mod your fuel system at your own peril! The stock fuel line and clamps are junk...replace them with high quality high pressure line and real clamps. Setting your pressure is critical to avoiding burndowns...doesn't take too much too low to be too lean! I highly recomend EGT's.
