M7/M8 Speedometer

I was wondering if when you take the stock air intake out of the hood, will the speedometer and Headlights be ok? I bought a BDX Intake and we took the stock intake out of the hood and the headlights and speedo seem a little exposed to the heat from the pipe. We were thinking of taking a piece of aluminum and cutting it to cover all of that. Was just wondering if its neccassary. Thank you in advance

we made aluminum shields, buddies M1000 and M7 both melted headlights and wiring to speedo. would add heat tape at least...

Did they melt it with or without the aluminum shield? If neccassary we will heat tape the aluminum as well. As of this post we are NOT leaving them open. I'll try and get some pics up in the morning.

Here, I got some pics of it without anything covering it. We're probably just gunna put an aluminum plate with some heat tape on it, but we aren't sure yet.

Never had any problems with mine melting at all. Lots of venting will help of course

melted my headlight and wiring harness put some heat tape up there.

Thanks for all the answers guys, I think we're gunna stick an aluminum plate up there and heat tape it, just to be sure. I was also wondering what kind of places you can buy heat tape? I'm only 14 so I'm not to sure. My dad will probably know. Just wondering if you guys could tell me.
