M7 into M8....??

Hey all,

Firstly let me just say I love my M7....LOVE IT!! But, I was riding some friends 800's down in Valdez last weekend and man, there is just something about having that extra 100cc that makes me smile that much more.

So...being that I'm a cheap bastard, and it's almost time for the summer sled projects to start, has ANYONE ever heard of dumping an '07 800 into a '06 M7????? Will the DD even align properly?? Mounts the same??

If ya'll have heard of anything like this, let me know. I'd like to 'Frankenstein' something this summer and see how many times it'll blow up on me next winter:face-icon-small-ton. Or maybe I'll just turbo it...dunno yet.

Thanks guys!!

Just curios what area did you ride at down here. I was considering getting an M7 for my wife and was wondering how it did on the longer pulls and the deap powder. She has an M6 now but it just will not hold the RPM's on the longer pulls and I think it is working to hard in the real deep powder.

When I go down I stay at Robe Lake Lodge (off Lake House rode north of town.) right on Robe Lake. I absolutly LOVE it there. Josh and Tabitha (owners) are AMAZING!
The original plan was to go shred HogBack right there along the Lake, but being that it was snowing like CRAZY last weekend, and with all the flat light that snow brings, we stayed out in the trees and rivers that are on the east side of the main rode going into town.

I agree with you about the M6, 700 is the smallest I'd go for most 'Mountain' applications. 600's will get you where you wanna go, don't get me wrong, but like I said earlier, there is just something about having an extra 100cc's of "UMFFH" that makes mountain riding just that more enjoyable.
And to answer your question: YES...an M7 will absolutly SHRED anything you point at it in Valdez...absolutly SHRED it!

The M8 has different motor mounts, plus a extra one. Physically the engine is a little larger not much though. It will fit but needs some fabbing to do it. Way easier to just big bore your m7 engine. I just happen to know a guy with a 800 kit & a speedwerx 925 top end:face-icon-small-hap. PM me if your interested.

you bored out 7 cyl to85mm and make it a 800. hello :) the kits take cat 800 pistons. look in the swap meet on here. IMO a good kit w box and pipe will be as good or better then the 10 for hp #s

There was a guy in the engine swap meet not long ago, that was looking to trade, with some cash, a stock M7 motor for a M7 motor with a Cutler 1000cc big bore, if you do a search you'll find it, and he may still be looking to trade. If you're interested in going to a 800, why not 1000? The cost won't be much different that route and the results will be WAY better. I've had my Cutler motor for many seasons now, and it flat out ROCKS compared to a stock M7. Just a thought.

Hey thanks for all the info guys...

Now I seem to have another problem....TO MANY OPTIONS!!
I'll need some time to chew the fat on this one....

Thanks again all! :face-icon-small-coo

put a rkt 800 kit and the stock m-8 will be chasing you it will out perform a well tuned 800 with the single on it
