How does the use of a Holtz relocation bracket on the rear of a 06 M7 162 help the rear suspension? They are on sale for $25.00 are they worth the price paid? Why? Thank You for your input:D

The M7 stock rear suspension/slide rail moves rearward when the front arm collapses. By doing this it tightens the track tension.

With the Holtz bracket it changes the angle of the front bracket and therefore doesnt tighten the track when you are in rough stuff. I think they sold for 60.00 and now have them on sale for 25.00 which is a good deal.

You still need to run about 3 or 4 inches of slack in track when you pull down on the track mid span.

Well worth the time to install the brackets. RickM

Is this bracket for trail rideing only or is there some advantage to off trail rideing as well, I try to aviod the trail at all cost so dont see the need for some of the rail/suspention fixes that alot off others do.

geo mod

Here is a photo of the "Geo Mod" for the M7, by moving the plastic spring holder to the rear by about an inch it gives the suspension spring a earlier starting rate which helps the ride. all you need to do is drill a new hole and remount the plastic block on each side. RickM

yes its worth doing it when you go down a hill and it levels out the m7 skid will acually cause the track to try to stop from track tightining anytime the tunnel collapses it over tightens the track without the holz bracket look at all the newer m series 07 and up they made the front arm rail mount taller

Do you need to unload rear springs to do the geo mod or can you just brace up spring while you do the move of the spring holder, dont know how much force the spring has?

thanks for the help

No you dont have to undo suspension, you can unbolt the plastic block, while holding pressure with you hand, you can let it rest on the track while you drill the new hole. Putting it back in the new hole will have less pressure when your trying to get the bolt into the new hole. hope this helps.

Geo Mod

Thanks rick Ive got the holtz kitt on order and will do both when i get them, just didnt want to unbolt springs and breake something(like my hand or fingers) thanks for the help.

Ordered a set yesterday along with a Polaris gas can. Shipped today.

With these mods, how loose should I run the track (162) without fear of stabbing. I plan on doing the anti-stab someday, just have other stuff to get first. $$$

You can also use a 12 inch cresent wrench, I put the jaws of the wrench over the spring by the plastic, and then put a bar thru the hole in the end of the cresent wrench for leverage ( t handle ) you can un load spring easy that way. also easy to re install. lift rear of sled off ground also helps. rickm
