M7 - Front Fox Shocks Question

My 05' M7 the shocks are mounted with the body of the shock towards the engine and my buddy's 06' M7 the shocks are mounted with the body of the shock towards the ski spindle. Why the difference? They appear to be both correct because the fox logo on the shock is not upside down on either sled.

shock position

The shock is going to function the same either way..........ok the inside of the shock works the same either way.

In theory with the shock body up and the spring and shaft down there is less un sprung weight..........so less weight attached to your spindle, woop azz race cars, old bike, quads set up this way.

However, lots of sledders have found that dragging your shock shaft around down around the rocks and constant flying ice and snow is a little tough of seals and shafts.
